My purchases today. Visited a shop I hadnāt in several months, and they had gotten a lot of new stock. I only got through 1/3 of it. Left a lot behind too as I didnāt want to spend too much just yet.ā¦will go back again this week to finish the job.
Iron Fist is just a cool cover for the PC ($5). Sleepwalker is a NM? Potential 9.8 with a press newsstand for $3. The two Deadpoolās are NM, hoping to flip for a small profit. Paid $10 each.
I got a beautifully clean Creepy 15 the other day for a $1. 9.4 or higher. I love horror magazines and will show off a bunch when my big Mycomicshop order comes in
Went back to the shop I havenāt visited in several months. So much new inventory to go through. Could have spent well over $100 on PC booksā¦but need to stick to a budget. Made a note of them and will go back as I receive more funds.
Iāve had this Middleton Catwoman variant on my radar for a whileā¦several on eBay but didnāt want to pay $15 plus shipping. Found a nice copy for $10.
I donāt know what ever happened to my Silver Spider-Man #1ā¦but I have a newsstand green and 9.8 Gold. So I picked out the best 9.8 candidate he had for $9.
Iāll grab a 25 cent Detective in decent shape for $3 every time. Condor Man #1 ($1) brings back memories of my childhood. Does anyone here remember the Condor Man? Every so often the theme song gets stuck in my head.
Here are some flip books. The Wolverine is a nice Jim Lee Newsstandā¦maybe a 9.8 Candidate for $3.
This Lobo / Road Runner may be a decent flip right now. $1
And we havenāt heard much about the Bodies series. This place had maybe 10 copies of the A cover, but for $15. Maybe Iāll go back and make a deal for the lot and go all in on it. But grabbed this 1:13 ratio variant for $3. Can sell anywhere from $15-$30.
Hereās somewhat of an oddball magazine that goes for big money in high grade. 1st Dreadstar? Lower grade copies still have some value. Low risk gamble at $3.
That Bodies show on TV was by far, the best show that no one ever talks about.
I thought it was exceptionally done; and couldnāt wait for the next episode. Great pickup there!
The one out of the way place I go to that holds things for me gave me the One Per Store Weāre taking everyone Down With Us Preview Edition and a couple of the ashcans. I love that store.
A few shops I frequent had ashcans and an owner Iām friendly with offered me the one-per-store for 10 bucks. I gladly took him up on that as I enjoy little ashcans and preview stuff.
Went to a new local con this week and found some fun stuff. Lots of $1 and $2 tables all over the con floor with sellers motivated to sell their stuff. Dealers were also going around the floor asking if people wanted to buy their longboxes for $100, inside those longboxes were lots of $10 and $25 keys that they left in there. Normally I would just buy a ton of stuff but my new collecting philosophy this year is to cut the fat and to sell/clear almost my entire inventory. All in all a great show. Went to an LCS later and found some more good stuff. Here is the haul.
First some $1 books. Dealer had a deal where if you buy 40 books itās $20 so essentially 50 cents a book. Like I said Iām trying to not hoard so much this year so I didnāt pick up many books. In the past I would probably walk out with 200 books. Dealer had lots of good stuff and lots of reading material that I wouldāve easily picked up in the past for 50 cents each. All were in high grade in longboxes that were obviously overstock and unread/unbagged and boarded.
Super happy to find that Jim Lee Everquest book. This was a big book in the past. I didnāt know anything about the Tomb Raider ashcan preview from Top Cow but figured for $1 Iāll pick it up.
Another vendor had some really high grade Transformers books for $1. These were all 9.8 candidates from his personal collection. He mustāve read these books with a tweezer as a kid, couldnāt believe the shape they were in. Issue 5 was $5, the rest were $1.
Next hit up my LCS, some books weāve been talking about. Found these for cover price. Geiger books have been such a great flip for me in 2024. Found another copy of the 80 page giant with the Red Coat cover.
Big shoutout to CHU for the win with The Eltingville Club. I am 85% positive that I have issue 1 and 2 in my boxes somewhere, I canāt find it. I like Evan Dorkin and have picked up his work from my LCS in the past getting back into comics around 2014ish. I donāt see another copy of this book listed on ebay currently so I might decide to price it something silly to fish. Itās super high grade so Iām in no hurry to sell it.
Now for the big score of the day. If you guys donāt know what this Punchline Winter Special is, itās a swimsuit edition by Antarctic Press from 2023. Itās a Dave Stevens Planet Comics homage that was creeping up in price during the Dave Stevens boom. It was a $60 book but has now jumped to $124. Itās virtually impossible to find because itās from Antarctic Press with a $9.99 price tag. Not many stores will order that.
Some great finds! Iāve heard that the Transformers #5 actually has 3 different print runs. All are indentical until you look at the indicia. No idea on numbers for each print run but no one is tracking it currently so not sure how many are out there.
