Darkwing Duck homage covers are sneaky good flips if you find them.
Especially pre 2020.
I have an homage to Batman 227. If you search darkwing duck homage youâll see them all. All very hard to find.
Wait till we get Absolute Darkwinf DuckâŠ/
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Went again today to a store about 1.5 hrs away, they were also having a 50% off most books sale. Iâve been wanting to make the trip back out to this store for a while but didnât want to commit to a drive, the sale provided a good incentive.

Started off with some cheap books for the PC. Iâve wanted to read the Superman annual story for a while, so I didnât mind picking up a lower grade copy. Always loved the Bob Oksner era supergirl, so Iâll pick up covers that feature her. The Iron man is just a run filler, and the Green Lantern is a fun key, first appearance of Châp, the squirrel green lantern.

Iâve been searching for this Bruce Timm cover for a while. Super happy to get it for half price.

This was an interesting find. One sale for $60 but all others way cheaper. Current listings are higher though so I figured might as well pick it up.

Best find of the day by far. Went in searching for this book and couldnât believe I found it right away. Looks like its cooling off a bit from where it was previously but still very glad to have it.
$35 total for everything. I probably missed checking a couple of bins and titles but Iâll just have to hit those next time. Thanks!
Nice scoops on the Task Force Z!
Agreed. Didnât know about the #8. Added to the hunt list!
Picked these up today. All for cover. I fâd up on the teen titans beast worldâŠI mixed this up with the world tour cover C. $7 mistake bound for the $1 bin. I was in a bit of a rush.
This was at a âformerâ honey hole. I say former because in The past they would not price at the counter and I was able to grab nice books for cover. Once in a while they would price an older issue (like pre 2010). But usually it was a $1 or $2 cover price and it would be $3 or $4. Not a huge deal.
But now theyâve fully adopted the âyou do all the work for me finding keys, then Iâll make you wait while I look up every single book on eBay.â
So this is what I grabbed for cover. I had probably three times this number brought to the counter, but some with $4 cover he was quoting up to $25. There was some books I had never seen before. But I refused to pay over cover.
The problem is I like the ownerâŠhe is always friendly and never looks stuff upâŠso did t want to make a scene. but I keep getting this other guy at the counter when I stop in lately who says things like âwe canât give these books awayâŠwe wonât stay in business .â
Understood, but now I wont buy these books you re-priced, , and Iâm now never coming back. How many others have you rubbed the wrong way and are not coming back? Howâs that working for your business?
So many âhot books of the weekâ sit behind their counter on the wallâŠ.each time I go in (maybe once every 2 months) I look at the wall and see the same books⊠priced at their peak. Collecting dust.
Iâm going to check their eBay listings to see what books I picked out for them get posted.
When a store says theyâll price stuff at the counter, 9 times out of 10 I donât bother. Some exceptions exist, such as when it is some cool stuff they just got in and havenât had a chance to look at themselves, but are kind enough to let me dig in for anything I would like (some stores Iâm friendly with and known at are cool with this). If I pull some goodies out and they havenât even priced it yet, I understand if they need to double-check some things and not give me something absurdly cheap theyâd price still quite reasonably and give me first dibs on.
Once I was at a store that lacked signage about repricing at the counter, and it wanted to reprice some stuff when I had dug around and brought it up. There were already some new prices, so it wasnât like JUST cover price. I said if they repriced things, I wouldnât buy them. I stuck to that statement when they wanted to check olâ eBay.
Pricing at the counter is like the restaurants who donât post their prices in the menu⊠youâre going to get â â â â â â when it comes time to pay!
Sounds like a future out of business shop.
Its funny because those books were making them $0. So anything is better than what they were getting.
YeahâŠI could have paid them $50 right on the spot for the additional booksâŠbut now they can overprice them and they can forever sit in a long box.
The other thing is they are closing up show because their lease is upâŠbut they donât know where theyâre goingâŠso who knows if theyâll even open up a new location.
