I’m having trouble locating this newsstand variant. According to CLZ it appears to be Marvel Spotlight #28 from 2008. They don’t have the newsstand listed and the cover A is a different cover. There is no issue number on or in the book. It’s not on Covrprice or GCD that I can locate. There are 2 on Ebay with some crazy asking price. That’s all I can find…
This is a new one for me, newsstand sticker over newsstand barcode. All the others I have found were placed on direct comics.
BAM used to have them all the time that way. Easier for the distributors to ship out direct market and slap a sticker over the bar code I guess.
I guess I assumed that they only applied the sticker to direct issues. Thanks!
Was in the market for a 9.8 (Direct) for the right price (under $200). But for some reasons this 9.6 newsstand came up in my saved searches…it was priced at what 9.6 directs sell for ($120) so quickly snatched it up. Arrived today!
For the sake of comparison, the lowest graded 9.4 is listed on eBay for $300, and 9.6 for $500. Recent Beat-up raws sell for $125-$200.
It’s in a banana-gate era slab, but seems to be ok. Definitely looks like a 9.6.
I think the person didn’t realize it was a newsstand, because they didn’t have CGC note newsstand on the label .
Recent haul just came in. I’m a sucker for early Image newsstands. Savage Dragon
sold the least, and with a roughly 1% returnable newsstand distribution I’m guess somewhere between 4-7k copies. Rob Liefeld stated Savage Dragon sold 700k copies, and I’m guessing he would know.
I’ve been buying boxes of uncirculated comics from the 80s and 90s that are part of a warehouse find. What’s curious is I have no reason to believe these comics were ever removed from their shipping boxes and gone through. Yet out of 6 shipping boxes of ASM #365 Direct Editions there were four newsstand issues inside. Was this common to have newsstands mixed in with direct editions?
6 boxes?! How many ASM 365s is that, and what condition are they?
I would think newsstand and direct were different distributions…likely someone just tossed them in after opening. Were they all in one box?
I think there are 18 comics per box for 365, the 375 was 20 per box, and 323 is 50 per box. It depends on the thickness of the books. These things have been shrink wrapped on pallets for years. Here’s a pic to give you an idea what I’m picking through… there are at least 40 pallets. Condition wise mostly NM with some VF+. The newsstands were in one of the boxes somewhere in the middle of the stack.
Where is this at ?
Yes, how do I get into this warehouse and what are they charging per box? That is pretty incredible
There goes the ASM 365 census numbers… lol
That’s was my thought as well. I have a few 9.6s that have ive never been able to sell. This does not help.
