Interesting Sales

BLUE Action Comic No.1 Superman Rare D.C. Comics Manufacturing Error Reprint | eBay

Not a sale, but quite a joke…good for a laugh.

Let your comic sit in a the sun for a bit, and then try to sell it for $1,000,000 as a rare error edition. Oh, and there’s a certificate of authentication! L@@K!!!

Only topped by bad grammar and misspellings in the listing…at least they tried, and didn’t use AI…although maybe A.I. told them “Dude, even I’m not going to touch this book…you’re on your own.”

I’ll be blocking this sh*thead.
Not that I worry about this one, but in a drunken moment… well… y’know

Apparently it’s in 9 people’s carts, lol.

But the sellers name is rare collectibles which mean he knows when something is rare.

Some seller names crack me up with unintentional irony.

This book does not come around often in 9.8. Still, I thought this was much too high of an asking price. So I am a bit taken back.

I picked up a CBCS 9.8 a while back for $150.

I’m always looking for this book in high grade. I don’t think I’ve seen a newsstand 9.8.

Crack it. Resubmit to cgc and make some money

It’s a PC boom. At least until I get a 9.6 or better newsstand. I have a raw news, but it’s like a 9.4.

Plus CGC would damage it.

At least with CBCS, it’s probably a legitimate 9.8.

Just when you started to believe that slabs don’t sell…

Meanwhile…elsewhere on ebay…

And then there’s CBCS….

Buy CBCS, have CGC damage it, and make some money…

…and to think there was a time when I thought comic hobbyist/collectors/sellers were savvy, aware, and sharp.

Then I see sale differentials like this (CBCS/CGC) and realize that part of the market is about as foolish, narrow-minded, tunnel visioned, and dumb as dumb can be.

I think part of it is people looking for books will use CGC in their save search…rather than 9.8 which would grab all of the services. So less views = less people to bid it up.

I sure do hope that is the (primary) reason

I’ve also searched specifically for a CBCS book (on the fly, not as a saved search) and ebay’s search automatically replaces cbcs with cgc.

I thought maybe someone would get this price for a newsstand of this book in 9.8. But not a direct.

Some of these books are not scarce. People just don’t send them in for grading because there isn’t much demand…but sales like this will change that.

Jim Lee cover, BTW.

Does anyone know why Silver Surfer 18 is so hot right now? It’s #1 on the cbsi hot 10 and they did research on it and have no idea why it’s selling. There were 70+ sales of it last week.

That is a great observation. Why has that never crossed my mind before?!!

I bought a restored ASM silver age comic. CGC has it as slight restoration (c-1). I just wanted a nice copy to read for a decent price. Will crack it out when I get it and share the results.

:flushed:
