I don’t watch any comic YouTubers so I can’t comment. I just am too impatient to listen to somebody when I could use my fast reading skills to simply read an article. I do like some comic TikToks where folks share random comic-book trivia tho. Those are brief and good for my short attention span.
Jim definitely has the enthusiasm of a tried and true collector of comics, and that makes him fun to watch. The whole thing about his fake rivalry with Nick from the Key app is corny, but maybe that’s what he’s going for. And the three books thing seems like something he’s done well before his latest return from seclusion. This dude goes into seclusion more than Bobby Fischer did.
Nice. I have that Spawn 221 signed by Mcfarlane. Finally, its going up in price…
Favourite quote of the week:
“You might be saying, Jim, why would I wanna buy that book” when he was talking about The Carlyle School for Kings. Awesome.
Once again puts two comics up in the background and makes no mention why he is featuring them…
The average Youtuber will buy them anyway.
What was the significance of the three books in the background?
The Batman on the left, the white cover is first appearance of Bruce Wayne’s half brother that is also a superhero. Middle one I believe is first appearance of Victor Crowley aka killer in the Hatchet movie series and I guess Absolute Batman 2 is because first Absolute Selena Kyle and other rogues. I didn’t watch the video to know that I have the three myself
They are just a backdrop. Theres never really been a significance, just a humblebrag backdrop.
In past videos (before his hiatus) he’d actually talk about them and why he brought them out. Now it’s just a mystery for the viewers to solve, I suppose.
Hatchet Vengeance #1 Magnum cover is limited to 350. It’s a 2018 book. Victor Crowley 1st app is in a 2011 Hatchet/Slash book.
Thanks @mushu like I said I was venturing a guess. I didn’t watch the video but looking at the picture was taking a stab at it. Two out of three ain’t bad.
I think it must be his version of a vanity wall?
I wonder how many loaded up on Wolverine 3 based on Jim’s prediction. He pushed that book hard for a few months.
Whomp whomp….
First new Wendigo? He has stuck around for two stories. I can see them keeping him around for a bit (which means Wolverine will have to put him down next issue)
