Loki Spoiler thread you have been warned!

Really Kang was one of the least popular villains for the last 55 years no one cared about him until Antman and the Wasp showed Chronopolis in a scene. So good chances no one knows :joy::joy::joy:

I collect Marvel Secret Wars toys and Kang has always been the cheapest one no one wants.

Yup the Disney movies have made more than a few C list characters into big names. Kang is now on that list. Renslayer is headed that way too.

@Alana That made me chuckle as you are 100% accurate. Figure has always been considered trash. Funny thing is, even in Secret Wars, I was sort of like, who is this clown (back when I was young reading it for the first time).

I get that he is important, books are great value now, but I’ll just never really be a big fan of Kang. Won’t pass em up for the cheap if I find them, but I’ll never actively seek them out over other big books either.

Being a villain afficionado:
If you had asked me 15 years ago, (obviously movies aside) who my favorite and least favorite villains in marvel were my answer would have been Thanos (best) and Kang (least).
I dont think I need to say how uninspired I’m feeling about this phase. Time travel and multiverses just allow for confusion and craziness for the masses. I am genuinely concerned going forward. But thats just one man’s differing opinion

Kang is deeply entrenched in Marvel history as a major player in numerous story lines. The problem is none of the storylines are standouts. He has ties to everyone from Mantis to Dr. Doom to Exiles to Fantastic Four to Avengers to Young Avengers and everyone in between. And as we all know he has several alt versions of himself as well that show up everywhere. The possibilities of things that can be introduced by just introducing Kang is kind of staggering. He literally does have ties to just about everyone anticipated to show up. Especially the Fantastic Four and Young Avengers. Kang tried to marry Mantis once but I don’t know if they will pursue that part. I can definitely see Iron Lad on screen killing a Kang and it may be with Hawkeyes weapon. I don’t know how you introduce Kang and not introduce at least Reed Richards at some point in the next few years.

Not to mention actors are confirmed to appear in No Way Home who also appeared in the previous Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-man franchises. Who is to say Marvel won’t bring in actors from the Fantastic Four and X-Men Fox franchises to be part of this multiverse madness with Kang? Shit is about to get real I think

My concern about the route they are going, it’s the multiverse can very confusing and complicated. The vast majority of the audience aren’t comic people and are going to have a hard time following along. So you either risk confusing your audience, or severely watering it down to the point it’s eh.

But if you give the character a scruff beard (or a goatee) and a scar on their eye, people will know they are an alternative variant of the character. Worked in Star Trek and is a classic movie trope.

I have the same concerns, but the hope I have is what happened with Spider-Verse. I thought people would be confused by that and it won an Academy Award.

I think Spiderverse worked as they were different characters. So even though it was a multiverse, easier to tell them apart.

When you’ve got 6 Kangs runnings around, might be a tad confusing.

They will probably try to simplify it a bit like in Loki making them very different. Female Loki (with a different name), Kid, alligator, etc…

I watched Loki with my father. Not a comic book person but usually enjoys the marvel movies. And even in Loki he was losing what was going on with variants, timelines, etc…

This complaint about putting too much into superhero movies and confusing people has been around since the start and I have seen no evidence that it’s a problem. The only problem has been when scripts aren’t good. Not how many heroes and villains are jammed into a movie.

Sure, but they are moving into much more complicated territory then they have before.

They already recently have had a purple faced time traveler major villain with Thanos. I don’t think it will work again. So many villains out there they could of chose to go with for phase 4.

What you got against purple faces?

Kang was likely chosen because of his connections all over the place so he’s a good guy to use to introduce several different interwoven stories.

Imo, ā€œconcernā€ is just that. It’s not doomsday. It’s not It’s going to be bad. It’s just concern.

Yeah, it certainly can but it also could be a ton of fun and entertaining.

I’m still hoping Shuma Gorath makes his MCU debut and attempts to rule the multiverse for himself. More than Kang wants that prize! We might actually see Mephisto throwing his hat into the ring as well! The whole phase could turn into an action packed cluster f%#$ of awesomeness.

Mirror Mirror Spock…the coolest variant of them all.
