Mark Spears Covers

In case anyone liked the Spears Devastator cover from the NYCC blind bags, but didn’t want to gamble, Clutch said Mark was going to have some “alt art” Devastator covers up on his website soon so BOLO…

There was an update for those who purchased the recent Kickstarter. Apparently, Mark has not heard back from the printer in regard to damages and replacements. I guess he was supposed to hear back from them by the tenth and looks like he is being ghosted a bit. Might be more delays ahead.

Yeah. I’m also not convinced he’s giving enough effort to stay on the printer to get them printed. His updates always say how he “emailed them” at some point or another and hasn’t heard back. I’d be calling them everyday hounding them about it.

Unfortunately, I think the kickstarters are the last thing on his mind given everything else he’s got going on. I would be shocked if we get them before January at this point.

Side note: I’ve participated in 5 kickstarters and not a single one has even come close to being fulfilled when promised. No more for me.

Got 10 in total, in the first 3 rips got the books I wanted, Chamber of Chills homage, the Stevens homage and a random. Sitting on the other seven to see how sales of sealed bags go before opening. I have others coming but being shipped so don’t know when they will arrive.

Also weighed each of the blind bags, they are consistently between 73g and 76g. I opened the 3 that were heaviest at 76g thinking maybe the foil was slightly heavier than regular cardstock but did not get any foils. So maybe foils are even heavier and I don’t have any in my bags.

kinda lame he’s not fulfilled the KS 1st, yet the blind bags of the series is coming out before that.

I’m picking up a few bags today with hopes of pulling the Chamber of Chills and the two GPK homages.

Yep. Any everyone’s either kissing his rear and saying it’s perfectly fine or, if they complain, he’s immediately saying “I’ll be glad to refund you.” He literally doesn’t care at this point. He’ll take the copies he refunds and flip them on his site for way more than $25 bucks (original kickstarter price).

Maybe it’s time to stop buying and talking about his stuff… we the consumers are what made him what he is today. Well, at least I’m not. I’ve bought and own zero Mark Spears covers cause I thought he brought nothing new to the table, his work is just Alex Ross but monsters instead of heroes…

I’m with this for sure given the way the kickstarters have been handled. I’ve got blind bags coming and kickstarter coming, and that’s it for me. The train is officially off the rails for me.

I only bought a few, but got two dupes. Standard A covers, but if anyone wants to swap, let me know.

Got two of these two:

Visible staple impressions, but otherwise nice. A21

A20

The best one I got was this. 1:100 from what I can tell.

A74

At 1st I liked what he was doing but when the horde of retailers and marketing surrounded him.

i thought the same when all I saw the Universal Monsters recycling, it looks good but its not like theyre new characters. I mean Dracula is literally Bela Legaosi and he’s kinda ripping off Basil Gogos’ style in a digital way.

WHAT happened last night ?

Are you asking me?

Went to the LCS to grab my two blind bags I ordered through them…saw a copy on the shelf and said, what the heh.

When they handed me my pull list it had only one blind bag, so glad I grabbed the shelf copy.

This is why I don’t pre-order through my LCS very often, though…

And they only had the one shelf copy…it was probably mine anyways and they put it out…they’ve never ordered Keenspot books previously.

ThirdEye still has some if anyone missed out.

They’re still available at the distributor level - just ordered a restock from Lunar

I like it when artists take off with success but when they start having an ego or start acting like they no longer care, and are only out to push push push to make as much money as possible without any regard to staying humble in a sense of the consumers who made them more successful than they should have been in the first place, that’s when I have problems. Hearing how he’s handling when things go wrong with his products is a turn off for me. Telling consumers to just ask for a refund if they don’t like it tells me he doesn’t give two shits about any of us nor is he appreciative so he will get zero support from me and zero money from me.

My first two pulls. A17 & A18. Interesting how they were consecutive. Maybe coincidence.

Happy to get A18. Looking to trade A17.

2 more packs coming from McS. Says they’ll ship 10/15.
