Mercari Headaches

They will charge Mercari for the additional shipping.

Not of my PO rejects it for being under weight…they’ve don’t that before…sent me home or had me pay the additional amount (if stamps covers it).

I haven’t had a book returned for postage being under weight.

I have before. And I’ve been turned away at the po when dropping it off too.

I get a lot of these. Says someone purchased something…only to find it’s been ā€œdeletedā€ and nothing purchased.

I have never gotten those.

I get them every few days. Seems like someone unauthorized tries to buy my books, but Mercari steps in before I even have a chance to look? It’s really weird.

When talking about the Mercari Like feature, here is the stuff I get

Guy liked the books and sent me this

Don’t think this will turn into a sale

He should have asked each of them for 3 dollars so he could buy the book!

I’ll get spam messages on Mercari about how they want me to text them at some number for more photos or to buy off-platform. I always report that.

Guy on Mercari sends me an offer $20 under asking. I was considering it. The next day he sent me a message saying his offer was higher than recent sales, that I should check, etc… I didn’t even respond to his claim. Just accepted the offer to move the book. Just sent him a message saying the book would be shipped out later that day.

He just started a return using fake photos to claim the comic is not as described. I’ve never had a return request on Mercari, so I don’t know how it’ll go. When I try to add notes to the return request stating that the photos the buyer uploaded aren’t of the comic I sent them, they never save. I’ve tried since yesterday. Their phone number just says high call volume and disconnects you after a few minutes.

I emailed Mercari my notes. Def feel like I’m being scammed here… one of the things I worry about with Mercari is seller protection.

I always ask for pics of the packaging too. Dings like that usually align with the package with same type of damage in general area.

In the return request he claims to have shredded the label and discarded the packaging although he did write that none of it is needed because the packaging was not damaged and that it was shipped securely.

There’s the proof then… If the package isn’t damaged and the comic was secure and not loose inside, then how did it look like it took a hit from the pics you had in the listing? I hate people who scam others…

Yeah if the package isn’t damaged and it was securely sent, it wasn’t damaged and he is pulling the old switcheroo

The only other thing that could have happened is the dumbass dropped it to cause the damage after removing and now just wants his money back from his own mistake. I’m sure that happens quite often with some returns.

If they drop it, we call it the old… dropper-roo? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Mercari isn’t going to do much research into the problem…you don’t have a say if the buyer wants to return it.

However, when you get the book back there will be an option to identify that the item you received was not the same item. I think that’s when you will provide the evidence and push back. At least that was how it worked for me. I had a buyer return an item that I accepted a low offer on as ā€œnot as describedā€ā€¦.didn’t elaborate on anything…and I had no say in the argument…I had several photos of the defects and acknowledged them in the description of what he bough, so no clue what ā€œwasn’t as describedā€. It’s like ā€œwtf?ā€

But I checked it over when I got it back and it was all the same books…same condition. And there was no option to push back as being scammed…it was clearly buyers remorse….

Some people are just jerks

Mercari declined the buyer’s return request and released the funds to me.
