Ummm… I thought the $600 issuance of a 1099-K begins in 2022 calendar year?
Is this saying that 2021 applies also???
Mercari is currently until next week new year you must sell 200 items AND have $20,000 in unadjusted gross sales to receive a w9 or whatever it is. They will lock your account at $18,000 and not allow to go over the threshold without your tax information. To see a full sales report for the year with fees shipping etc go to the website and run a sales report you can’t do this from the app.
This could be a good week to get some deals off those Who don’t file eBay/Mercari sales on their tax returns and now will have to.
They may offer some discounts to avoid selling next year and “loosing” more to Uncle Sam.
But I think the majority of people who are facing such a prospect are in denial about what’s coming to them in 2022 anyway, even if you try to explain it to the with a “lowball” offer. I anticipate a lot of griping about it in late 2022 when accountability comes knocking at their door.
I keep track of all those fees because our tax advisor (I am not one, so ymmv) told me to do so, to keep track of all the miscellaneous expenses.
That makes sense, but with Mercari it gets more complicated.
If something costs a buyer $50 + $5.99 shipping + $2.39 tax, you have no way of deducting costs for taxes and shipping. Mercari sends you a shipping label, so you’re not buying one like on eBay. You don’t have a shipping cost and the $5.99 that you never see is added to your total as if you were paid that amount. Same with the tax…
Did not know that existed. Interesting!
Mercari pissing me off today. Pretty sure I know my own zip code. What makes it double annoying is that I listed an item EARLIER TODAY.
Has anyone had this happen before?
Yes I just got one today probably a bug if you got one too I msg CS to see what’s up.
is there a way to raise the price limit, it wont let me list anything over 2k
I THINK you have to have a verified account including tax info. I could to totally wrong.
$2000 is the limit only way to get something listed for higher is to verify an items authenticity through Mercari’s authenticity program by sending the item to them. I’ve only ever seen one listing higher than $2000 and it was awhile ago so I don’t even know if they still offer this.
thank you, will have to sell bigger books elsewhere then
Myslabs. Still haven’t sold anything on there but they’re growing. 1% seller fees on slabs.
Now through 4/3 they waived the $2 fee.
Methinks people protested loudly.
I withdrew my balance
They got rid of all selling fees, so a $2 fee to transfer funds from sales with 0% commission isn’t too bad… buyers now pay a small fee instead. My concern though is that they buyers can now return for any reason and if you get an empty package back, you’ll have to convince mercari and even if they side with you, they can pay you in mercari credits. I deactivated all my listings there.
