Modern Comics Cooling off

The White Sky 1:25 likely avoids a collapse due to it being a scarce Vecchio variant. She has a devoted following.

For everyone here who’s thinking of going all in on every new indie #1 that comes out every week, just remember the writers for D’ork and White Sky has a large following outside of comics to drive demand. Some of these hot new indies don’t.

Not buying these other FOMO #1s but IMO White Sky has some legs…

I sold my one copy of Flash 28 and one of my two Titans 30s. No copies sold since Feb 21st on Titans 30, Feb 17th on Flash. My remaining copy of Titans 30 has been listed for a week with zero views or watchers. I think these DC KO tie ins have cooled off.

I sold an Aquaman…but can’t sell the set of 4 ongoing title covers. I guess I’m dropping prices.

Not enough market manipulation for these…I guess the manipulators can only manipulate so many given books in a week, lol!

Got “bumped” out of hot lists that were dominated by D’orc and White Sky. K.O. is over….people now throwing their cash at new FOMO books…

My Absolute Martian Manhunters have cooled off.

The giant wave of Absolute reprints coming next week have taken a toll on existing prints, it seems.

I have sold some absolute Batman number one reprise ninth and 10th print special because the 11th print is coming out. I think people want the lower print numbers.

I have a couple left. Issue 1A (that I have yet to list, and probably should now that hype is down) and a variant of issue 4 or 5…which I will drop the price soon.

Do you think with the series ending now at issue 12, it will get hot again or completely cool back down to cover??

Maybe cool until the Absolute Martian Manhunter pops up in someone else’s book or a team one starts with him on the team. That would re-boost interest.

Scott Snyder tweeted that Martian Manhunter will continue to appear in stories in other books, but they kept the main title at 12 issues because that is what the creative team agreed to.

Murder Drones has now entered this thread. That was a short window. At the prices on eBay right now, you will be lucky to net $4 after fees, shipping, and book cost.

Sold one for $23.99 today. Paid for all my copies. So even if I sell for one cent it is still a profit.

The ceiling on eBay is $20 with free shipping. Add up the shipping costs, eBay fees, and the cost of the book and that’s maybe $4 profit. At this point, that’s a risk getting stuck with a copy trying to make $3-4. Risk/reward is gone as far as I am concerned. If Mercari fees are less, then I guess you can make more. Nobody on eBay is buying at 23.99 or higher anymore (unless they are dumb and pass up the $20 BIN listings that show up at the top of the search).

Immediately after I think DCKO crossovers are cold, I sell a couple. I did lower prices, so they are still moving, but just not at the bonkers $40 price range. Closer to $20 now.

That’s what happened with Absolute. I said it earlier and then just sold 7 books to one guy.

I’m 3 hrs away from my sales streak ending…

Shocked.

To take it one step further, the three books from this week, House of Lowthar, Is Ted OK, and Murder Drones have all faded from their highs. D’Orc FOMO led to White Sky FOMO which led to “get the next Indy #1 FOMO” which is now making me wonder. People are yelling from the roof tops that comics are back. Is it true or was it a brief moment of tax return hot money looking for the next thing and trying to make something the next thing? Nectar is going to be interesting to watch. If I get a copy, I am flipping it as fast as I can.
