I know I’ve never come across these two in the past year. I know this series well enough to always check the variant covers that I’m not familiar with.
I do keep finding the last issue Mora cover though. I think it’s just as good a cover (and probably tougher to find in NM with its white cover) than other books.
It may be time to start adding issues 4 & 5 (cover A) to the hunt list…there seem to be no copies under $30 on ebay at the moment.
And I see sets of 1-5 nearing $100.
I sold a copy of #1 for $15 (which now seems to be going north of $20) and #3 for $25 (can’t find a listing for a singular copy). The comps are all sets of 1-5 or more. So thinking of listing for $60….or maybe doing an auction…see what it ends up at.
I see sales in the teens for Ark M covers A and B. How much do you think the cameo at the end will help the book keep moving up? I was able to get 2 As and a B tonight for starters.
For as much as we point out people for buying books at inflated prices when there are significantly lower prices available if they just spent a few seconds conducting a simple search…
There is also the opposite…people who list books for cover without doing a simple check of what the book is currently selling for…
Just got back from my LCS. Just a couple of days ago, they had a lot of later printings of Absolute Batman (most issues) and they’ve been wiped out of nice copies. All that’s left are spine ticked, bent copies. Absolute Wonder Woman and Absolute Superman selling really well according to the clerk).
I got 3 of the 4 covers for Ark-M (guess which one was sold out?)
Absolute Wonder Woman #1 seventh printing (love the clean white cover!)
Ascencia 31 (Art Adams - great cover in hand)
New History of the DCU Wonder Woman foil (great cover!)
Absolute Superman 15 (Ferreyra cover)
Batman 5 (Jimenez ‘Oyo’ design variant)
The Absolute series’ has broken me out of the modern comic funk that I was in (for now). I hope the stories continue to intrigue
I was chatting with a comic shop owner, and he said that Image has surpassed both Marvel and DC as the top selling publisher at his store. I would have guessed DC was on top, but it’s very possible Marvel is sitting at #3.
Not a single copy of the Batman Special on the racks at both shops here.
Glad I pre-ordered.
This hobby will never cease to amaze me. Should have been copies for days?
(Clearly just my own private Idaho observation)
Not a single book from the Absolute titles on the shelves today at the LCS. The dollar bins were freshly updated so like a blind man at an orgy, I had to feel things out.
I keep wondering when more shops will order enough to meet demand, and if AB #15, the Annual and this Ark-M Special aren’t waking them up, they’re leaving money on the table. However, I have to think some retailers will have gotten the message by now and the gravy train on future issues may retract.
