Nope. It’s all monsters and stuff. Vivid, bright colors. I really dig it.
One interesting dynamic to the whole spec, fomo, comic shops, manipulating thing is one I don’t know if we’ve talked about much.
It’s the not buying initially at inflated prices when in certain cases your gut says says go all in and you still buy in early at an inflatated price.
My shop tends to maybe, maybe have one or two copies on the rack on new release days. Sometimes zero (pulls are fulfilled). After that day, and some later on release day they are marked up. In this very recent scenario it was D’Orcs. I had a pull copy. Went to the shop the next day and they were $24.99. gadzooks right…but I bought one.
It’s not always like that, I/we know that but sometimes the opportunity is still there. Same with some books you all mention that I blew it on FOC (doesn’t happen much), I’ll gladly go to ebey and pay for a slightly inflated price now for a book I’ll never see and will be fat more expensive in a bit (the mora 3rd print ko book that’s coming).
Monsters is another great example. At the time my shop had Monster #1s priced at $30 apiece. Just a bit after launch. People were saying it nonsense. I bought 4.

I can’t gage the value. One copy sold for $4. Another is listed for $20. Then the rest are bundled with other books.
I could do an auction…start it at $20 I suppose…
