It’s manga (pretty big one too), and isn’t it non-canon? It seems collectors go after the US releases. Do these really ever go anywhere? I don’t follow value on foreign books at all.
Is it in Japanese or written in English?
??? Has this not been released yet, or is this a reprint?
I think this has a huge possibility of being a monster foreign edition! Here’s why I say that:
-
They are undervalued (remember the negativity towards newsstands?). As prices go up on the U.S. editions, foreign editions become a viable option PRIMARILY because expensive comics aren’t read nowadays. They are either “plastic tombed” or mylar’d (my personal choice). What’s the difference between being unable to read a foreign comic (language) or being unable to read a U.S. comic (in plastic or keeping the comic pristine)?
-
First appearance of a Spider character and she looks awesome (she’s got 'tude! People that missed on Miles, Silk or Spider-Gwen should be looking at this character to get in on early (and Peni Parker).
-
Deadpool and manga are a match made in heaven.
-
In one of the volumes, All Might from My Hero Academia makes an appearance and teams up with Deadpool. That is an important crossover appearance moving forward.
-
I know nothing about Shonen Jump but you can believe I’ll be doing some research.
-
A team up of Peni Parker (Sp//der) and Hida Haraka (Sakura Spider) would be great! I have zero idea how this would happen, but hey, you never know.
At the buy in now, it’s worth the jump. With our hobby being so explosive (for now), it will only get more expensive to get in. Unless, it’s a failed spec but I don’t believe it will be.
Simply my opinion.
Something Is Killing The Children 1 CBCS 9.8 Jae Lee Variant sold for $750 (Asking $1,999.99).
While there are CGC 9.8s available for $350ish.
A real head scratcher
Seller is a legit shop/comic dealer and big advocate of CBCS.
Congrats to him for this sale!
Shonen Jump is the company behind a lot of the most popular anime titles (Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, My hero academia) and a ton of other ones. Some really underrated classics like Yu Yu Hakusho too
The average Shonen Jump has well over a million copies printed. I wonder how many there are of the Deadpool manga
I believe that is an english version
Wow…so probably 250k to 1 million copies of this manga?
"For comparison purposes, the last North American comic book release to ship over one million copies was Star Wars #1 back in 2015. This was the first time in nearly two decades that a book hit these bestselling numbers. The American comic book that shipped the most copies in 2020 was Wolverine #1, coming in with 196,441 estimated copies."*
edit: changed from 1 million to 250k potential since it includes digital reads
I think they were referring to views in that article since it was originally released digitally. It’s hard telling how many physical copies there are. I haven’t been able to find an answer yet.
The same book with Sakura Spider is also the one with the Deadpool All Might crossover. As for do manga sale? Surprisingly well, all I see late night on Mercari are mangas being bought and sold meanwhile very few comics are newly listed late night and hardly move. I don’t know much about anime my 11 year old is really big into it reminds me of my passion for comics at that age.
I love anime, but haven’t read manga since the early 2000s…been sitting on my Star Wars manga since I bought it new in the 90s lol…still sells for cover price
There’s 4million Spawn #1 and it sells for 25x it’s cover price raw, 150x it’s cover price graded 9.8.
I’m also into manga and anime and the audience and reach it has is massive. Even my nephews are really into anime and manga like naruto and one piece and there is definitely a big market for them. I dont know any marvel or DC books getting even close to any of these numbers
Do you just put your manga on the book shelf without extra protection or is there a method to keep in good shape? Is condition as much of a focus?
45 million???
Oh my god!!!
And we get all uppity when a comic hits 100,000 copies…
there are bags for manga specifically but most people who collect manga and stuff do it purely for reading purposes. Thats a big difference with manga is that a majority simply like to read the series and collect them. It also helps they’re usually cheap. I can get a volume that’ll cost me at most $10 or they’re some bigger ones that are 3 in 1s that cost $15.
US collectors will go after the Deadpool B&W appearance b/c fewer copies.
