Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 1)

All these apps are useful tools if used right. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt with the information that you get. The Key app is a double edge sword. If you are mainly a speculator then the app gives you edge with when to list something or try to pick something up when it is cheap. You could get burned if you mainly rely on those apps too.

I buy, sell and collect. I use he hobby to support my hobbies. Nothing wrong with that. As a collector I collect the things that I like. If they go up in value that is great, if they don’t that is ok too.

I understand what uses the app has, I’m trying to point out that the ends do not justify the means.
I see the app as an overall bad thing for our hobby, as it’s interests are purely based in self indulgence.
I don’t use the app because I think it’s unhealthy for our hobby, in the long run. So, I don’t support something that I see as a cancer. Just because it can be used as a tool to make money, doesn’t inherently make it ‘good’. I’d prefer to use tools that I felt don’t compromise the hobbys health.

It think this is a case of “to each their own”.

Too that point, Tony…this conversation is in relation to someone above asking why anyone would not like the app, because it made them money.
I was simply showing how something isn’t inherently good just because it allows you to make money.
Which, in so many words, is ‘to each their own’. :+1:

Funny when something is on the forum days ago and discover someone of Facebook having “just found out” especially as it is a group that charges money for spec.

As I’m now on the fence of, people should do their own due diligence when buying things and it’s their own fault if they over pay for things, I also would never use what I knew was “fake” or “misleading” information from an app like Key Collector myself for my own gain. Too many times Key Collector doesn’t clean up after they post bad info or just flat out wrong info. I don’t use their app and would never pay for it either.

Most of the “good” info that’s been verified that Key Collector does put out is already found at other sites like CHU and many others, or they simply used the info from such sites to push their own updates to make followers scramble for the books.

But yes, to each their own. I don’t use Key and as I think the app and site can be useful for information (even though you can do a quick google search on a comic issue to get most of the info you need about it), I don’t trust their ulterior motives when they push “key” book info out.

We should have a topic for like the opposite. Modern comics cooling off. I remember that marvel action avengers book with yellow hulk was going for like $40+ at its peak and then dropped off hard

Start one and then we can also use it to rag on shops who still keep the price tags at the peak value up on the walls… cause for a lot of retailers, they operate on a one way street…

I thought I’d check out key coll and paid for the subscription. They basically add a solid percentage of new releases to their future keys section with no validation for most of them especially variants.

Talk about late to the game. I was selling those at double cover on release. There was a buzz on these since they hit shelves. Would have been nice to have held on to a couple though

I think if you are not using all the resources at your disposal it is your lose. Of course you have to do your own fact checking, but you can be leaving a lot on the table.

The last Ronin 1 cover A seems to be holding in the $70+ region for now, looking good for some longer term holds. What is interesting about this book is that when it first arrived cover A was about 15-20 and EVERY single store variant was over $100, now it seems to have switched with cover A being $70+ and some/most store variants have fallen back to 50.

If you read what they post on their future keys they will remove books based on poor performance. But for some people it may be too late.

Yeah, I seen that. I just feel it’s not really speculating if you just add almost everything.

Didn’t realize that Shadecraft 1 TFAW exclusive is selling for that much on EBay. I will say it is a fabulous cover with a limited print run and exposure on Netflix, the FOMO may continue for awhile.

There are now multiple $100+ raw sales for that black Adam endless winter special book.

lots of people listing theirs now. I just picked up 2 at cover price last week from the LCS (after the heads up here about some f*ckery afoot) and going to list mine with my PC copy tonight if people are actually buying them.

Sounds like people are going all reddit on it… pump up the value, dump and be happy as it falls flat… anyone who spends $100 on that book is an idiot! But to each their own, if you got that much money to throw around, send me some please…

I’m definitely not buying, before I posted that it was heating up I tried to find any at every online shop I have saved and couldn’t find one, I found 1 more copy at a local shop for cover.

I’ve got 3 and I’ll probably list them tonight and see what happens.
