Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 1)

Man, I step away for a few hours and another 50 comments.

I was referring to the 1:10 Blanche…Marvel issue #1. No raw copies I could see, except maybe bundled with other books.

Most recent raw sales were overseas, so hard to judge what one would go for raw…but cgc 9.8 copies are asking $150,plus shipping.

As for the 1:10 HRA 2, I noticed just about all copies were asking $100 as of the broadcast last night…all “cheap” copies seemed to have disappeared shortly before the show…not that there were many for sale to begin with. Likely In anticipation of what Jim already hinted was coming.

Hope that clears it up.

I mean… is this a big deal? I am trying to determine the significance of this character. This is where an expert on the topic comes in handy. Could you opine? I am in for a few copies. But trying to figure how much to invest. Thanks!!! Your contributions are amazing.

Most likely sheep cause I doubt most regular folks are watching his videos… it’s speculators which results in speculators buying up comics at higher prices.

And yes, like others have stated, if you buy cause a youtuber mentions or talks up a book, you go immediately buying it without doing more research, then you are a sheep!

I haven’t watched his videos before, but with all talk on here I checked him out. He doesn’t seem to be hyping comics like the “sick brah” guy. I didn’t mind Jim’s videos at all. I didn’t feel like he was pushing books.

Not at all.

The problem here is, I’m sure most of his audience are speculators. One problem here in this spec game of comics is you got smart speculators who can walk away (or they’re the ones already holding and then selling the books) from a book after it gets hot to just wait for the next one and then you got dumb speculators buying up books that get hot thinking they’ll keep going up in value (or buying out of sheer FOMO), yet most peak and then fade away like a fart in a car with the windows rolled down…

I think it is the nature of the market now. People hear about a book and want to run out and buy it. Sometimes it is because the the talking heads are pushing it, and some times it is because the people latch on. I am just sitting on the side selling the books when they pop

Yup. I guess I should mention a lot of the folks are likely collectors so they’re get caught in FOMO to go buy “hot books” at the surging market prices…

It’s certainly a mix bag of folks who rush to buy because we all know, if you’re speculating, the golden rule is… buy low, sell high and if you missed a book, you know to just walk away and wait for the next opportunity.

When I was younger I had to try to get books on the Wizard Top 10 list each month. Didn’t realize I was buying into books on the wrong end of the market trend. So, I have been there too. Mind you I was 12 and got more savvy, but not everyone cares as long as they have the hot books.

Oh for sure. If you’re a collector just wanting the book, buy what you like and can afford… granted, I’m sure there are a lot of folks buying up things they can’t afford but well, that’s on them then…
