In theory, it just seems like if we can avoid having black up against the boards and minimal pressure, it should mitigate some of the problem.
I have a CGC submission that I’m going to send in at the end of the week, I might press the books and then just place two copies in that submission. That way at least it prevents future color rub and if this book does take off down the road it’ll be an easier 9.8 to sell then having one that ends up a 9.6 later on.
If it’s rubbing off on the back I don’t see any reason why the front wouldn’t do the same. I have dozens of backing boards with the back cover “imprinted” in them in reverse.
I’ve yet to try the comic in a bag alone and then placed in a bigger bag with the backing board in that bag. Though the archival and even cheap boards are supposed to absorb any gasses from the decay of the comic.
And if someone isn’t posting all this “rubbing off” stuff in the that’s what she said thread, I’ll be disappointed.
Black seems like it’s the worst for color rub
I think there’s lots of factors that may contribute. Like how soon after printing its placed against a board….potentially humidity, etc.
Do you have some of those books facing the “correct” way as a control/baseline for this experiment?
We already know the black will come off. I’ll be able to tell if the front cover gives up some ink this way
Just curious anyone know why all of a sudden Daredevil 612 [1:10 Netflix variant] raw copies selling for a pretty penny?
Maybe because if shown filming started?

You just answered your own question…
That auction that ended for $365 raw ended on Feb 25th…
The twitter video of Cox was posted late Feb 26th.
Was wondering if there was other news on Feb 25th
That book had an initial big spike, hit folks radar, and has been rising since it was clear he was coming back again. It’s tax return time to boot!
That $365 is questionable as no copies before or after have sold that high…
Gotcha thats what I was thinking! Seen copies go for $50 to $100 so this seemed like a unusual jump in price.
Also saw GalaxyCon mentioned in listings looks like Richmond in March Cox and D’Onofrio will be guests…so perhaps people might want to get sigs on this book
I’m sending in a book already signed by Charlie Cox to get D’Onofrio.
I can’t understand for the life of me how quite a major actor across … what… 20+ years in many roles (D’Onfrio) is only charging $80 when compared to other celebs. Forget about the Kingpin - the guy is a pretty big name even otherwise.
His best role ever was in Full Metal Jacket hands down… that tops them all!
D’Onofrio and Cox will be at the Orlando Megacon (with Jon Bernthal as well). Likely that people are looking to get the book to get it double signed. I think they didn’t look at the guest list pages though since the only one of the three doing autographs is Charlie Cox.
TBH I was looking for the same books before I saw that they weren’t doing autographs
Thanks for that info.
That punisher photo variant cover with Bernthal sig would be sick to have also.
But I guess people have to check details of each cons guests and not just assume everyone will be signing.
Also welcome to CHU!
Thanks… LONGTIME lurker, first time poster.
Punisher 218 is what you’re thinking of. Also looked into that before seeing he wasn’t signing.
