Starting to see why. Kinda gruesome. From what I can gather guy cannot feel pain, and has mutilated himself to the point where Batman can’t even punch him or rough him up for fear he will kill him, he’s such a critical state. Very interesting.
The running theory in issue #2 is he was “created” by experiments being run by Ace Chemicals…some experiment with pain inhibitors. But a whole town may have been in the experiment. So there could be more like him.
The character seems to have a list of victims, possibly a revenge list.
So this is a limited series (apparently not…story ended with issue 9, issue 10 is a new arc). So there’s a good chance (A) he’s not the only “wound man”, and (B) he will die in the last issue, ending his place in Batman’s rogues gallery.
Whatever motivates him may be limited as well, and by the end of the story even if the character survives that motivation may be gone.
It seems like a cool character. Story was decent enough I may grab the other issues, so holding the book for now. Going to ride this one out.
Edit: issue 9 came out this past week…has anyone read it to know if the character may be back again? I’m wondering if that ending is what propelled this book this past week…
When I bid on things, I just put the max amount I’m willing to pay on the first bid and leave it be. If I win, great… if I don’t win at my max price or lower, I still win… cause I didn’t overpay.
This is the same attitude I went into when I used to go to live auctions. I used to buy mainly books to resell and other paper collectibles. I had a value put on any item and then would bid up to 25% of that value I thought I could resell the item. If I won great, if I did not it was great too because I did not overpay. So, if the value of a product was say $100, I would pay up to $25. I would list the item at $100 and usually sell that say item in a week or two. If it did not sell at that price, I would drop it to $75 and it would usually sell right away. This would only apply to items that you knew the value of and it actually would sell at those prices. Even if you list the item at $50, you still will double your money in a quick amount of time.
It’s early, but it’s healthy at the moment. Manga is not my thing, and I was not paying attention to this title at all until I saw Midtown was sold out prior to release. That struck me as surprising for a #1 Bat-title on an incentive like a 1:25, given the quantities they typically order. Looking around, I didn’t see a lot of supply with online retailers in general before/on release.
I’ll rephrase; manga-influenced art is not my thing, and despite my avatar, I think DC tends to lean too heavily on Bat titles. The spoilers did make it look more interesting than I expected.
