How many kids dropped comics all together when the price jumped from 15 to 20 cents?
The other part of this is aligning inflation against these increases over time. Do the increases over time “make sense”?

25% is huge jump when applied to $4. The percentage should be decreasing as the price rises
I’m just thankful the duration of time the comics have been holding at specific prices has increased drastically. A lot of those earlier increase were stacked on top of each other in pretty rapid and shocking time frames to those of us on fixed allowances back then. While some are angry that they are $4.99, I’m thankful they haven’t had two more jumps squeezed in already taking them to almost $8 cover price. Two more 25% or so jumps should get us there.
Hopefully enough buyers cut back to where they’re profit margin decreases after raising the price. Unfortunately, they know to take a gradual approach. Prices aren’t solely determined by cost. Corporations charge the most they think people are willing to pay
You have to change your mindset when it comes to percentages, you’re only thinking in terms of dollars when there’s other factors at play when prices of goods go up due to inflation, etc.
Please elaborate. Thinking in larger terms, if the price was $100 per comic, those other factors should lead to them increasing the price to $125? The percentage should decrease to some extent when the dollar amount increases. Banks will soon have a cap due to what essentially was price gouging
I’m still trying to figure out what happened to the price of everything.
Pepsi 2 liters were 75 cent to 99 cent forever. Now they’re $2 to $2.48 at the discounters.
Just a few years ago there were a variety of meats including chicken under $2 a pound.
If Marlboro would go back to 75 cent a pack like when I started smoking I’d consider starting back after stopping for 12 years now.
I miss bacon at $2 a pound. Now all I see is 12 ounce packs for about $5.
Even Hulu Live seems to jump every October higher and higher to the point I don’t want it anymore, not even for football season.
The only good thing is the higher comic prices go, the easier it becomes to qualify for the discount brackets. Shipping keeps climbing every January as well. At least they didn’t jump it October for the holiday season this last year on top of the annual increase.
12 years retail buying new comics and I’m still getting a good assortment of $3.99 and even some $2.99 still from Image.
Our leaders do things that devalue US currency, like print money. Real estate investors also drive up the cost of living. Raising interest rates should scale back on the latter
From your own opinion, do you feel the overall economy is “good” given the low unemployment rate and stock market doing well? At the opposite end, everyone is still feeling inflation and no body is buying up stuff like we did during the pandemic. So what your take on our overall economic situation?
Some inflation is ok, but not this much for a healthy economy
If everything were free like the Star Trek Universe then we’d all win! Gimmie all the comics for free, live long and prosper!
Then there would be no fun in chasing comics.
Fair point!
You mean… we have to READ THEM instead of just staring at them locked away in boxes?
No I mean give me the free comics. Ok. Who gets the Action Comics #1 (first prints). The Detective 27’s. I read my comics as well as sell. I have read every book I have purchased minus the ones sitting in my stack of shame that I haven’t had time to read yet.
I guess my sarcasm didn’t come across… haha…
Message them, it may just be a simple case of missing the decimal point in the right place. $4.99 cover price, in stock right now at both Diamond and PRH.
Interesting Midtown has them limited to x3
Don’t you have to submit an order to know with prh, at least until release?
