So now theyre just pulling a “Stray dogs” and homaging every key comic and horror movies except this time with…actual monsters?
Bleh, not interested in the chase at all for this series. I also think its a fad, no staying power.

Probably will fizzle out, but at least the covers look damn good because Mark Spears has skills.
As a horror fan I am enjoying it. And while they are selling well, I am gonna take the profit from them. My motto has always been “Buy what you want but sell what others want”
Gets me every time
MCS playing the roll of undercutter. More than 10 available. Limit 1 as well to slow this train down…
I will say this. I spent $150 on comics this week including multiple copies of the 1:25 and other covers. Have made back $110 so far and sold a #1 Infinity Gauntlet Homage for $20 so sitting at $130 so far on this book. Just sold a Creature Feature for $17. That puts me at almost break even.
All I can say is I am holding a copy for my pc and riding the wave of sales on this series while it lasts.
2024 has had some good metaphorical money waves.
As soon as they realize the comic is selling for $15 plus they will raise the price to $12.
Not many are talking up Forbidden Planet #1. I don’t know much about this one but came across a few copies at a little over cover when issue #1 started showing up on hot lists. Anyone read this way back when? Is it good? Anyone looking forward to the move/show, if/when it comes out? The cover of issue #1 look pretty nice.
In the shocker of the day, my shop had a significant number of these sitting on the rack at cover (all the covers).
I really can’t wait for this new comic book shop in my neighbourhood to open. I really hate how some of the shops around me operate. They only open from 12-5 and that’s it, even on a Wednesday. So every Wednesday there’s a lineup at the front of the store before it opens. This is the biggest shop in my city located downtown. They could easily open for a few more hours as they definitely have the foot traffic but the owner won’t do it. He won’t read comics after 1986, has no online store presence. Just wants to open a few hours a day and that’s it.
I’m not going to begrudge him on how he wants to run his business but once this new shop that’s closer to me opens up, I’m out and closing my pullbox.
Isn’t MCS a retailer?
I have a funny store like that in my area too. The owner just wants to do his thing. His prices are higher than COVID prices, I only go there when something really jumps in prices because I know that no one has looked in his long boxes in 5 or 10 years and his horribly high price might actually be cheap now. As an example when X-men #251 was hot I went there and sure enough he had 4 of them in his longboxes. The cheapest was $60 CAD for a ratty looking 6.0, that wasn’t him adjusting for the new hot trends, that is the regular price.
I actually feel sorry for the employee there, I try to work him down to somewhat reasonable but if I get too far from the sticker price he has to check with the owner. I once found a Marvel Comics Presents #86 I was looking for without a price on it but it had Dave Cockrum signature on it. The employee wiped out his trusty KCC (I didn’t even mind really since even that price would be a welcome change) and said $10 CAD for it. I should have paid and left but I pointed out the signature, owner is called, price was $100. Dave Cockrum must be a hard signature to get.
Oh, and he refuses to buy new DC books. Yea, sorry about the lost Absolute sales. Still I like to punish myself and go in every once in a while.
On the bright side, he uses the Overstreet price guide to price books when a new collection comes in. Yes that’s correct, the fat phone book not the online price guide. He knows it’s not accurate but it’s just easier and a lot faster for them to price stuff. That’s how I was able to buy a CPV Booster Gold 1 for about $1. X-men 251 can easily be found for $3-4. You just got to be there at the correct time.
Yes, but they also strategically list to sandbag a book for weeks/months/forever. The limit 1 per book ends with only the post office winning. They suck.
So true…
I am now in the business of never paying more for shipping than the cost of the goods being shipped. I can probably live without such things in my life… its a very easy decision to make now for myself.
