Comics are going strong, but not in the format we are accustomed to. Sadly Manga and books like Dogman are what are keeping the market afloat.
Meet its doom? Lol. Iāve been collecting since the 70ās and every decade someone preaches doom, and every decade the market grows. The ā90s was the botttom in my book.
Agreed, Iāve been hearing of the doom of the industry for decades now yet it still keeps trudging along.
True, but it was just comics in the past. Now it seems much of print is in danger between newspapers, magazines, and comics too. That is the worrisome part.
January starts the āgreat sell offā for me. 45 yrs of collecting.
18 CGC./CBCS boxes
43 Long boxes
11 Magazine boxes
Assortment of signed/limited edition hardcovers.
I will; however, be retaining my Original Art collection which is extensive.
Buh bye. Done with the retention/speculating/grading part of the hobby.
Maybe 5% of the total is retained - dunno yet.
Time to turn this pile of paper over to usable $$$; instead of waiting too long where I canāt.
I would bet the folks that are going to buy pieces of your collection are mostly going to be >40 years old. Youāre doing a wise thing. Get out and enjoy the fruits of your collecting labor before 99% of funny books go to $0.
The only folks Iāve seen in my local LCS younger than 40 are the kids that work there; and they know nothing about comics. As Anthony mentioned, they sure do know their manga though.
Okay, enough of my doom and gloom. Any books worth speccing on so I can make a few extra bones?
Donāt worry, if they were concerned they wouldnāt double down on digital distribution.
Iāll be starting to do the same in 2025, but Iām still going to do the FoC thing and make an extra buck here and there as well.
Is the story any good? Or is it just covers
I figured out how to get the machete cover but not the chainsaw cover yet.
Figured out as in without opening the polybag?
When did this go on sale? I got a text from Bird City Comics at 7:58 pm est, but the link sent me to a dead end.
Now the link sends me to a page showing sold out.
Saw it was limited to 200, $20 per copy. Knew itād be scorching hot.
Never went up on the website, only on the birdcity appā¦
Interesting. Donāt see anything about an app on their website, or in any of the adds for the exclusive looking back. Wasnāt aware they had an app.
the text link went out right before 8 but you had to keep refreshing until 8 and the page went live. Was a sellout in 2 minutes
She looks a bit like Angelina Jolie to me. I like it but didnāt care enough to make the effort. Gratz to those that did!
