Mother of Madness by Emilia Clarke July 21

I can imagine nothing more passive aggressive in sending some random message to a business to tell them how they should run such business.

Passive aggressive or American?

Hehā€¦ probably both!

To be fair, a lot of shops here are having to work with what theyā€™ve got, partly due to the global cardboard shortage, but largely because of Brexit screwing up supply to the UK. Prices have gone up significantly, and wholesale stock is inconsistent.

I moonlight at an online shop and theyā€™re constantly struggling for packaging materials, have been for months. Despite its scale, I imagine FP is experiencing the same issues. For larger orders they tend to use sturdier mailers, but we the customers canā€™t dictate how they pack, due to their weird despatch system.

Not sure a complaint/advisory message would make any difference, but could be worth contacting them ahead of time citing your order number and requesting sturdy packaging if youā€™re ordering from overseas.

I offered to pay more to upgrade the packaging at Forbidden Planet, but they said they have no option to do this. If enough people do the same, perhaps they will.

Thatā€™s crazy. Here in Southern California companies donā€™t buy used cardboard at recycling centers any more.

Nah, Iā€™m going to roll the dice! Ride the lightning!

So did anyone read this and what are peopleā€™s thoughts? I couldnā€™t get into it

I read it weeks ago and liked it.

I read it. Concept was interesting but execution left some to be desired. I think they were trying to ride on the star power of Emilia Clarke a little too much. I think it was a good decision to team up with Marguerite Bennett but Emilia being a first time writer really showed. I thought the message was rather heavy handed but willing to stick round to see where this goes (i know its only 3 issue mini series).

Just about every comic book collector would agree with that. In fact, Iā€™ve heard that very same sentiment on these very forums several times from various collectors.

My signed comic from forbidden planet is now processing so should be shipped soon. Hopefully it arrives safely, though judging from the way they shipped the High Republic #1 signed, I donā€™t have high hopes.

Itā€™s at least a thicker book. Could save the day.
