Ms. Marvel Disney+ speculation, Discussion, and reviews (spoilers possible)

I enjoyed it. Solid start. I really enjoyed some of the camera techniques they used in it as well. The one in the office with her counselor, the one on the couch where she’s upside down, the one where she jumps from her window. Incorporating the animation into the real world was also a really fun way to enhance each scene.

Cast was really great. I think everyone matched up well to their comic counterparts.

I felt like I was watching Descendants or something like that. But I’ve never really cared for Kamala either.

Kamala is great, I like her far more than Miles, Ironheart, America, or Moon Girl.

Theres definitely potential - going to depend on the quality of the show content.

TV shows have more scrutiny than comics with respect to content.

For the first episode I am in the minority. Kinda “meh” for me. A little too light-hearted and kidd-ish for a MCU project imo. That being said it was certainly geared toward a younger audience (not me unfortunately) which if fine. Marvel has put out a ton more serious/older content, so I won’t complain that this show wasn’t geared toward me specifically. I’m not done with just the first episode though. I will still watch the next episode to see if it grows on me or if I like where the story goes.

Its geared toward teens, but that is the way most of their newer characters are focused. Its how they get younger readers interested.

Yup…As fans like me get older, grumpier and eventually drop dead they need to grow new batches of loyal consumers and viewers. Just the way it works.

Zombies 3 will be here soon, will be hard to watch anything else with two daughters.

Great first episode. Definitely skewing toward a younger audience, but that’s a good thing. My two pre-teen daughters loved it.

Here is my impression as I just got caught up. It is not meant for people like me, hold up, don’t throw up some insult, what I mean is not meant for a near 50 year old comic fan who tends to like darker fare. This is the show that kids need to hopefully draw them in to Marvel Properties.

As for the show, sure, she isn’t the Kamala from the comics, but what we get is a lighthearted, fun teen show about a super hero. I liked it. It wasn’t heavy handed in introducing the Pakistani culture. The characters are likable and ties in nicely with the MCU.

So, not a show designed for me, but like many other things not meant for me, I liked it

I was pretty board but I’ll stick it out and see how the next episode goes. My kids lost interest half way through. I told them we can’t judge the whole series on the first episode so we should still give it a chance. I did think the acting was good.

I really liked the show. Felt like the movie “Scott Pilgrim” with the animations/transitions and I love that movie.

I’m not too familiar with Kamala (haven’t read any of her solo stuff, only know her as part of the Champions) so the changes to her power set or origin don’t really bother me.

But more importantly, my kids actually liked the show. They actually watched it instead of just looking up from their iPhones every once in a while, they actually put their phones and iPads down and watched the TV…what a concept!!!

As boring as the Star Wars shows have been, at least Marvel is trying different things with their superhero shows.

Could be there was plenty of reshoots.

You’ll never see a red haired, green eyed Superman in the movies. And Im certain that ‘looks’ was very much at the forefront of the hiring of Chris Evans, the Thor guy, Peter Parker (3 different ones), Wonder Woman, Batman (3 to 4 different ones), Banner (2 of them), Dr. Strange, Black Widow, Falcon, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, etc. Imo, staying as close as possible to the source material, especially given the complexity and inherent depth of the source material, is vital. Given that 99% of the movie characters resemble their comic book counterparts, Id say Im not the only one who thinks that. :beers:

Never said they don’t try to resemble the looks from the comics when derived from the comics. Just saying, if you’re going to care about the more minuscule details like the length of hair or if Superman has a hairy chest or not, you just gotta learn to let some of those details go during the casting calls.
