Just was in 2 comic shops both had 106 on the wall $20 bucks. Guess 106 is favored over 108.
Most recent sold for regular cover A went for $4.99 + $2.89 shipping.
Now two days ago two others went for $10 range. Prior to that around $12ā¦ but if this trend continues, prices are dropping.
106 was definitely a lower print run than 108 AND arguably a first full regardless of what CGC says. That being said, 106 never got a second printing so that tells me copies are still out there readily available.
Also, comic shops know that a lot of customers fawn over the words āfirst appearanceā and they jack the price up. Believe it or donāt, but the comic industry is current experiencing 1992 all over again.
Not just customersā¦ we got a lot of retailers who act like consumers themselves. So yes, 1992 all over again.
Also consider the landscape has changed drastically in the past decade. Once upon a time you had just actual retailers (brick shops selling comics and book stores, etc). Now anyone can get a Diamond or Lunar or Penguin account. All it takes is a online presence to become a retailer, thrusting actual collectors, consumers, and speculators now playing retailer in the comic book industry.
I think 106 v 108 is similar to DC 1034 v Robin 1. 106 and DC 1034 are both ācameosā but way smaller runs then their counterparts, which ultimately I think will end up making each the winners for their perspective characters. I mean, I of course have multiples of all issues mentioned. But still if someone canāt decide just buy both!
A cameo bought at cvr price is still a win, if itās a good character.
Do you mean 108? Issue 106 did get a second printing with a nice Federici cover.
Yup, when you pre-order at discount or cover price on any book, itās a small gamble each and every time.
Shoot you are totally right. I just never picked it up so I spaced it.
106 definitely got a 2nd printing cuz I grabbed a couple of em.
It doesnāt say anything about the future of the character. 108 was well hyped in advance so stores stocked up and exclusives were plentiful keeping the incentive prices down and easily found. Itās just midtown liquidating their overpriced stock.
If the character heats up down the road, copies will eventually start to dry up, prices follow, and print run wonāt be as much of a factor.
Everyone anticipated molly being a villain. I think she is gonna be more an ally/anti-hero which should be better for long term specā¦ correct?
That is the most likely scenario.
Just all depends how well sheās received down the beaten path.
Rob Williams makes good comics.
