I have copies listed at $15 with no bites
If you leave it up there it will eventually sell. We’re still only a couple days in and for a few days shops were still selling hundreds of copies for cover price. I know we’re conditioned to believe that a hot title only has a shelf life of 1 or 2 weeks. I believe in this title based solely on the great creative team and how good it was. That’s why I listed my copies higher than what FMV was, normally I’d just be happy with the sale and not worry about getting the most for it.
I’m still holding some copies back as I believe in the long term potential of this book and the demand from fans. I was at my LCS and there were lots of talk about it and how my shop owners were caught with their pants down again. Lots of people coming in looking for it, I believe it’s word of mouth from their friends, review sites etc. These aren’t speculators.
I sold three copies listed at $20 over the last 2 days. I got offers for $15 and countered $18 but those expired when my three copies all sold at ask.
I ordered three more cover a from a shop that I use online. We shall see if they get delivered. They are usually pretty good about fulfilling orders.
I’ve got around 15 coming in from various online shops. I’m still buying as I find them too.
I’m not usually a later print buyer for these types of books, but I wonder if the second print will warm up. I think FOC was closed before the first issue hit (I could be wrong there).
Now, there are 5 damn covers for the 2nd print, so there will probably be 932,204,256 of these. But, this cover is one of the better ones for issue 1, IMO.
MyComicShop took their eBay listing down and show no A covers on their site. That will likely get some movement going until they ultimately relist (nearly certain they will at a high price next time).
Yeah 2nd print sold out before the book was trending. It will have value.
So I finally was able to make it to my LCS after all the hurricane madness. They had 4 copies left of ABM cover A and no variants left. The person in front of me checking out was buying a cover A and based on the conversation the store worker was having with him, I could tell he had never been to the store before and came solely to get ABM. I bought 1 copy since I didn’t want to look like a turd after what has been going on since last week in my area. And I do appreciate all the people on this site that offered to help me get a copy if I couldn’t get one.
Lots of under cutters popping up for absolute batman. Gotta love it
I hadn’t even realized it had reached $15. You guys stopped taking about it. Are those the undercutters?
Midtown still has copies for cover.
The secret to good retail is how you buy your product. If you buy it right you can sell it and make decent money and stave off some competitors that had to pay cover (or more) plus shipping PLUS the cost for them to ship it out. Maybe they’re in it for $7.50-$8.50 and $15 isn’t worth, but for the people who bought it right making $10+ on a $3.75 investment is
Again, for the slow people in the back…
SUPPLY > DEMAND
This aint Ultimate Spider-man #1
People selling are looking to make a buck and get out.
Why are you calling people slow? If anything you were slow to detect the book’s trending value and tried labeling it a future dollar bin as others were quick to identify its actual value.
Yeah! You tell him!
Midtown finally upped its price to $12.
But… how could this be? I was told by the Comic Book Speculation Authority that this would be a future dollar bin book for us slow people in the back… when in the future? 2099?
As I type this I just sold a few more for $25 + shipping.
Do you not understand what “future” means?
Eventually the hype dies down and speculators stop selling to speculators…these get stashed away for a while and as shops go through back stock and buy collections they’ll find they have an abundance of this book.
I don’t think anyone is saying there isn’t money to be made short term.
Right now it’s still clearly FOMO territory. My thinking (and that’s just me) is this is a risky book long term. If this $15+ price holds, I’m getting out ASAP.
In fact, please all of you buying 10+ copies please hold onto them to keep the current supply low until I can move my copies,
