New Comic Book Day šŸ’„

If Liefeld cared about his fan base, he’d learn to draw better and stop putting out total shit artwork. Nuff said!

Speaking of bs artist Liefeld…

He’s doing a cover for the new issue of Veefriends Comics #22…

which is limited to 4,400 copies.

A bigger version, which is 3 feet tall, is available at NYCC. That is limited to 55 copies.

Hit up both comic shops in the local town this morning.

Main one had no copies of Midnight left an hour after opening. They placed a much larger order than usual and still shifted them all.
4 people asked for it whilst I was in the shop.

2nd comic shop had about 10 copies of cover A left for each title. All the variants had gone. They said they had already sold loads in the first couple of hours.

Midnight seems to be a hit in the UK (at least initially)

All the copies I saw seemed fine as well - I had no problem picking out nice 9.8ish ones for myself.

Like, literally a 3 feet tall comic?
Will CGC grade it?

Yes they will. They will grade anything at this point

I got a cool looking matte foil SIKTC blind bag cover, but I have no idea who did it ow what cover it is. Is there a gallery of covers out yet anywhere?

Also, the foils do weigh a little more than the standards.

Regular and foil.

Also pulled a foil and b/w dell’edera last night in the other two bags.

Still haven’t seen a cover list anywhere.

They are $14.99 each right?

yes, not cheap, but they are packed with Erica Slaughter’s ā€œrookie cardā€

I grabbed a copy of Midnight books…was able to snag what I think are 9.8 copies. There’s a little ā€œscuffā€ near the top and/or bottom of the front cover…looks like a manufacturing defect as it was consistent from n all copies. Barely noticeable.

I asked about the comics the magazine…and my shop says it doesn’t order it…oh well.

Hit my two LCBS this afternoon and scored the following:

Beneath the Trees Halloween Special (1:25 variant) $15.00
Something is Killing the Children #50 (1:25 variant) $12.00
Midnight X-men #1 (1:100 Ito virgin variant) $45.00
Freddie the Fix #1 $7.99
Extremity #8 DWJ for $3.99

Did not buy any SIKTC blind bags. $15.00 is a bit pricey to be gambling on in my opinion.

There were a ton of folks in the stores today and everyone that I saw had copies of the Midnight Universe series.

Good hunting everyone.

Wow. Check out this cover my buddy pulled. Again, I have no idea what’s what, but this is a spot foil cover and it’s absolutely stunning.

It’s really irritating that Boom didn’t add a covers guide to the issues back pages.

Yeah, that’s nice. Remember that cover from the list of blind bag covers that Boom put out, don’t think I saw the spot foil version.

Good luck getting that out of the convention without any dings. The last NYCC I went to, so crowded, could probably start grabbing random asses and no one would know who it was… (please don’t grab others asses without permission though).

The bumping and grabbing doesn’t bother me on the basic floor. But some vendors have rows of long boxes that you have to turn sideways to get through. And if someone needs to get by you, you have to exit the entire row to let them past.

I’m so out on Marvel, but love horror. Vampire X-Men sounded boring, and I’m just kinda tired of Spidey. So, I grabbed my least favorite Marvel group, Midnight FF. I liked the idea of a Galactus Cthulhu. And, I have to say, it was pretty good. They flew through the plot of issue 1 way too quickly, but I get it. I’ll grab issue 2.

Went to the LCS for the first time in awhile. Picked up (6) comics:

(4) SiKtC #50 blind bags
(1) 1:10 Frison SiKtC #50 variant
(1) Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer polybag edition

In the blind bags, I got 3 foils and one regular variant:

  1. Frank Miller foil - meh
  2. Asrar non-foil - solid cover
  3. Jamie McKelvie foil - solid cover
  4. Gigi Cavenago foil - great cover!

In other words, $60 + tax for 4 blind bags = who the hell knows value wise but I’m keeping the Cavenago.

I will complain about one other thing - why in the hell are the Dungeon Crawler Carl #0 reprints $9.99 cover price? I almost picked up the Abs Batman homage 2nd print but didn’t because I couldn’t justify the cost. Now, as I type this, I can’t justify $14.99 blind bags either

At the whatnot store you can pay $30 for a DCC blind bag
with meh covers…

I think the foil cover takes away from the depth of the Legos. It looks like you could set bricks on it and they’d stay.

This will be a hot book this week.
