My $300+ preorders monthly shipment knocked down to $66 wasn’t something I was happy about. Just means any hot books will go unsold and I’ll be sitting on “useless” books. I’ve been with TFAW for a bit but this and the store credit I won’t use may steer me another shops way. I won’t use it because I rarely ever do anything outside of preorders with TFAW & apparently it can only be used on in stock items.

When you make a Pre-Order on TFAW (post-FOC date) when exactly does that Pre-Order lock in? 24 hours from the making of the Pre-Order? At a certain time of day each day?

At least you got store credit. I still haven’t seen my store credit, or refund to my bank for shipping, I haven’t seen a single book arrive from tfaw since August and it’s December 1st. My 4 week order that was suppose to ship mid October is still in shipping. This newest failure sending a week of books and make everyone pay more shipping cost me $10 more shipping on this order and will make my next order cost $50 more in shipping.

The pre-order locks:

  • If its post-FOC, the next day - 12AM PST (Milwaukie, Oregon time)/2 AM CT/3 AM ET. Basically the start of the next day.
  • If its Pre-FOC, the day of FOC - 12AM PST (Milwaukie, Oregon time)/2 AM CT/3 AM ET. Basically the start of the FOC day.

In both cases, you have to cancel the day before (last time to cancel 11.59 pm PST/1.59 AM CT/2.59 AM ET).

TFAW gives you three strikes on your account, if you cancel after the lock time/date. After the third time, you will not be able to preorder going forward (see the TFAW website for more info), and will need to meet some conditions before you get back into good standing.

I am confused by the splitting of orders, especially for books that are already released or near to being released. Also confused by the postage. Just like you, I’m frustrated by the postage for the books that could have been combined into a single order.
I’ve taken to ordering mostly variants and incentives through TFAW, but order the regular stuff from another vendor. Maybe when things settle, I may shift back.
