It’s funny because there is no pay wall through Patreon like a bunch of other groups have. The forums are transparent in the fact you can see who is on here, read 90% of the posts, and anyone can join and gain trust. Doesn’t matter if they are a member of a spec group. Oh my god this is too funny. I have always ran CHU as a side thing for fun. I enjoy it. I get to talk about comics, which for the most part people’s eyes glaze over when I speak to them about it. This is not a “group” we do have members in the fact that people join the forums, but there are no cult or gang behaviors like you see in other groups. SMH, I could make the whole damn forum closed and just keep it to the members we have, but the idea was always to share info. Spec is an echo chamber, it gets amplified the more people talk about stuff. Why keep everything secret? It doesn’t grow that way. CHU free to browse, free to join, no secret club bull shit, no Patreon.
Probably more like 99.9% of the posts… we got some Lounge stuff going on but it’s small compared to the rest of the forums.
I wonder what was the tipping point that caused that Ben guy to boil over. I mean, raise your hand if you’ve missed out on variants at TFAW. God knows I’ve missed plenty. I am, however, thankful for those I’ve gotten that I was alerted to here.
Tfaw sent me a regular doctor aphra 5 instead of the 1:25 variant which was on some hot lists , two tfaw orders ago didn’t have a copy to replace and refunded me. This is the first time I’ve mentioned it because it’s the price of doing business and it’s a fn stars wars book and I could care less.
Probably the same person who submitted claims to our support team that I was giving people secret links to buy books, and when they explained that A) I wasn’t and B) that’s impossible with our site, he started calling them Brendon haha.
But yeah, I just post here as a comic fan and occasionally respond to feedback/take suggestions from customers because it’s better than ignoring it. There’s literally no way for our site to post a link for a product that’s secret or private, or I’d have put stuff up special for newsletter subscribers or our in-store customers, not to an affiliate site where we lose revenue on every sale.
No one is retroactively having pre-FOC books limited, or orders cancelled and transferred to anyone here or elsewhere. We have no way of adding pre-order books to someone who hasn’t ordered it (which anyone who has accidentally removed a pre-order and asked our CS to re-add it can attest to). If anyone is ever reduced pre-FOC, it’s only because we got shortages or damages from Diamond/Lunar. Same with any orders post-FOC. The ONE time we’ve removed pre-foc orders in the two years I’ve been here for any other reason was when I think it was a 1:25 incentive got posted at 3.99 with no limits because of a bug, and even then we let everyone keep at least one copy. (It may have been a different ratio, it wasn’t something I thought I needed to remember.)
I also purposefully try to never post links on this or any affiliate sites except for things like when people have asked how to contact support, because this is an affiliate site, and me posting links on an affiliate site is bad business and would upset not only Anthony, but any other affiliates out there.
My guess is this is someone who used to order multiples of every incentive variant before we started limiting it to one per person (which is a change that happened long before I ever registered here), and before Anthony started sharing them and making it easier for other people to find them. There were a few people who used to order every copy of every incentive that was below cover price, or every incentive for indie series like SIKTC when it started.
As for my role, I run the marketing. I have nothing to do with putting new books up, adding products, adding inventory, etc. Even if I did, the idea that I would give special private access to people on a site where we lose a bit of money on every purchase specifically for the comics that are the easiest and quickest for us to sell is ridiculous and makes no sense.
I don’t even get the ones I want most of the time because it’s impossible to add pre-orders to an account in our system, and when there are hundreds of people trying to order maybe 1-2 dozen copies of a comic, things run out. Most of the incentives I get I end up getting from our brick and mortar store(s) when I go there to shop each week.
I just chased mine down the hill and around the corner…I’m outta breath.
I won though. In that I caught her…if only it was on video…I’d win $10,000 easy…
The people who are actually working right now instead of goofing off like me will see this topic later with a billion new posts and freak out.
My wife doesn’t let me pivot in paint anymore because it “messes up the interior of our living room.” Come on, what’s a little paint in the shag!?
Just wait until he finds out I also post and talk about comics in Facebook groups and on Reddit…
Just as an FYI, I go back to the fact I am a dad of two, who are now doing this home schooling thing. I am working from home all the time now so spend way more time researching and chatting on the forums than ever before, as I do not go anywhere. The forum has experienced incredible growth over the pandemic and we have around 10,000-14,000 views per day. The incredible growth of access to targeted links on specific variants (some of which sell out before I can even post them) hitting so many eyes (by the way this thread has had about 20,000 views in the few months since I started it) has caused a great deal of people to try to grab the few books that one or two people were buying up before. Also, we are fully open about using affiliate links and hosted ads, in fact, others have pointed this out as a reason to pay them money to join secret facebook groups. It helps pay for the hosting and all the other costs of running the main site and the forum which is seeing combined traffic of over 20,000 views a day. Yet here I am still working my day job and driving a Kia, and not that new Kia Telluride, I drive a Sportage. None of this came easy, the massive amount of traffic comes from a lot of hard work. The great thing is, that Mewe (or Facebook I am not sure) group, all they are doing is offering free advertising for CHU, I mean they are basically telling people our members get early access to stuff (which they don’t) so why wouldn’t they want to join the forum?
