Ratios for Venom are not low print. Stores are wise now and mass produce store variants to get the high-end ratios
So many stores have been doing Venom exclusives and that’s 40 1:100 ratio variants not counting the variants they receive for ordering the regular covers.
The 1:100 across 100,000 print run will absolutely have a lower print. Do the math. Whether people want that over the store variant covers is up for debate.
If codex has the first full appearance in venom 27 should then not the Cover “VENOM #27 Tyler Kirkham Negative Variant” be the best bet ? I mean thats would be first appearance with cover ?
The 1:25 2nd print Venom #27 will have a lower print than the 1:100 first print if you are about rarity.
Unless there’s a first appearance and or the first appearance of the character is on such “ratio” cover, most of the time ratio variants are bad investments… in special cases, yes, they’re going to have a smaller print run than said regular cover obviously but sometimes they can get so far out of reach for some collectors, if investing, buying X amount of the regulars for cover price is the wiser less riskier move. Unless you get your ratios at cover, never buy at the ratio retailer price range unless you got a really good idea and chance it’s going to turn out to be an ultimate winner book.
The other problem here is most retailers/speculators who got their hands on them early on will jack up the price. So unless you can snag at cover or well below the average premium that most 1:100 go for… stick with Cover A… if you were willing to invest $200 in 1 ratio variant… spend that $200 on cover A’s and you’ll likely match or beat the potential the variant had or has.

True, but won’t it be a 2nd print and people who missed the 1st now will be going for the 2nd as well. May turn out being not that rare, but already have one ordered.

Agreed, the main cover does not have Codex either and the 1:100 will be 100x more scarce. Grabbed one at 40% off ratio a while back including 20 main covers and 15 variants.
I know but people want the 1st full appearance also on the cover that’s why 2nd prints are hot

Yeah, I ordered a few copies, it is a good bet that he will be on the cover.
The cutoff order date for the 2nd print is before the 1st print even releases that’s why it will be low ordered.
2nd print FOC cutoff 8/8, 1st print Venom #27 releases 8/12
Now it won’t… I’m gonna pre-order a million copies…

Good news, bad news. I was able to get my copy of Venom 25 1st print (first cameo of Codex, yes?) today from the LCS. The bad news is that they only had 1 copy and I got it. The 2 spine corners are a little jacked up, like paper is peeling a bit. This is a big book and I know that tends to happen but kind of a bummer.
Looking forward to snagging Venom 27 onward for first full appearance of Codex!
