Almost made it to 2023, but Barbara Walters snuck in under the gun:

We still have just over 24 hours to go, so who knows what will happen.

Are we going to have a trifecta today ?

Year End Review

So what raw books or specs didnt pan out in 2022 ?

I’d say Paper Girls #1 and Invincible Iron Man #7 & 9 didnt do well

I’m really disappointed in Shuri spec. I would have thought her firsts would have commanded a lot more leading up to the BP movie.

Also, some America Chavez keys were ultimately a bust.

Both I held onto for too long expecting a higher spike. Not sure what to do now. I think Chavez still has potential, as I think there are still bigger and better things planned. Shuri might be limited to very long term slow gains now.

Thor God of Thunder #2
What if #10 (Jane Foster became Thor)
Black Adam #2 (White Adam)
Ultimate Fallout #4 (YES I say it. Dropping from 3K)
Something is Killing Children #1
Savage She-Hulk #1

oh, any Marvel Spec (1st Echo, 1st Elektra, or any MCU 1st appearance). Muwhahaha, true blue-chip takes time and story to build upon not flash in the pan. Yes I said it.

This thread started out with the best intentions from Mr. @davidbitterbaum on 12-31-21, however q took a morbid turn with the announcement of Betty White’s death (technically not a 2022 death as it was on New Years Eve…).

But here’s a recap of 2022 to close out this thread. We’ll still keep it open for a few more days for any more last minute announcements or final condolences.

The real “fun” began with the announcement of Bob Saget, Jan 9th.

It was kinda hard going back through this list…lost some celebrities I grew up with that feel a little like family.

Will also post some notables this thread missed next.

December 2019-December 2020 was the worst year ever for me. 2021 was about rebuilding and recovering. 2022 was about trying to have some normalcy. 2023 will hopefully be about thriving again.

I always like Rod’s posts. They are a nice little piece of retail insight:

Is this thread going to be closed? Or stay open so we just post deaths here.

2023 deaths are here:

Yeah, this thread will end up like 2022, a memory.

Just when you thought 2022 deaths were done, this one popped up today.
