Nocterra

Because they’re not hard to find. After any news is released, we’ll see them go up as demand increases and supplies run dry… then we’ll see them start to fall again. If we do see these go back up, it’ll be around the time a show is premiering for them to fall back down. The chance any Image title turns into a Walking Dead type of book is not going to happen more than likely.

So make some money now by recouping what you’ve spent on them, break even, maybe make some profit, hold a few for the long term gamble. But I would never hold most Image titles for too long, more often than not they turn into wasted space in the longbox of what could have been cause we held onto them for too long and didn’t sell at the right time, which is announcement of option time.

Don’t forget Shadecraft, Wayward, Roche Limit, Injection, East of West, Trees, Postal, Rat Queens, Revival, Thief of Thieves, Lazarus, Chew, Crosswind, Starlight, Analog, Fade Out, Infidel, Kill or Be Killed and a crap ton of others that have yet to be made into anything…

Your advice is sound. I just have a lot of confidence in this story. I’m comfortable with the risk/reward on this one.

bruh I remember that era when everyone would buy any and all image #1s. Peter Panzerfaust, Manhattan Projects, skull kickers

I know it’s sound when you base it on history… history is on my side when I say, sell when option is announced, make some money now… hold a few. At least if it never turns out to be nothing, you don’t completely lose out. That’s the key to flipping/speculaing on modern indie books. The chances any indie book goes on to the ranks of TMNT, Crow, WD and the handful of others based on value is very unlikely and when they do, you’ll probably already be long dead…

Manhattan Projects is still a great book. Buy that one (TPB) to read I say.

Been stocking up on this one for a while. I had 5 copies listed at $15 and they sold instantly with the alert.

Image comics recently talked about solely due to being a good read: Stray Dogs, Dept of Truth, Geiger, Nocterra, TX Blood.

I do admit, they have been upping their game on actual better reads as of lately because in the past, it normally felt like 1 out of every 10 new Image titles are worthy while the other 9 were total garbage…

What do these have to do with the price of tea in China???

Nocterra is its own story and absolutely dumps mercilessly on all of these titles in terms of quality and TV potential. But please keep assuming that what happens with one title or two or ten has anything to do whatsoever with the next one.

Why do these books have to become Walking Dead or TMNT to be worthy of speccing and holding? If I can flip these in CGC slabs for $100 someday, I’m cashing $70 profit per book after grading. If I can only get $60, I’m doubling my money. What if I can get $150-200 for a brief moment in time when there’s more news? Now I’m really cashing in. Or I can sell now and make $10-15 per book… hmmmm.

There is almost no risk on this title if you’re in for cover price on Cover A already.

For every Walking Dead or TMNT there are like 100 dud indie titles that get optioned. Maybe they are worth $15 for a week and then they disappear.

I probably would wait to get anything graded until there’s some more concrete news that just an option.

Nobody said that.

WTF is that suppose to mean? I think you’re missing my entire point by talking nonsense.

Didn’t say it wasn’t it’s own story. Could this go on to be a Walking Dead type of value or spec? Absolutely but chance that it does is slim to none. That’s my overall point that you’re missing and you’re bringing up a debate that’s irrelevant to the point of me telling someone to “sell now” instead of wait as the chances it becomes cover price again is more than likely than the latter.

Yeah, nobody is saying otherwise.

The thing with TMNT and The Walking Dead also comes down to print run size. No one is saying you cannot hold on to your copies. Poyo is saying his advice is to sell. Your advice is to hold and grade. Two different angles. Both could turn out to make people money. I don’t know why it always has to be a fight.

Exactly. I actually stated, if you got multiple copies, sell a few, hold a few. That’s always my usual stance when it comes to indie books. If you can break even or make profit and still hold a few for the long term gamble, then you win every time in my opinion.

Personally, I’m not expecting Walking Dead type outcomes for any of my specs. I’d be a fool to.

What I am saying is that I’d rather hold Nocterra than sell at $25-$30 a pop.

I’m just thinking this is stronger news than just saying it was optioned. He said there is an actual TV deal.

I’m on the sidelines until I hear who the deal is with.

I would buy Cover B and C. Still very cheap at the moment.

There were 31 covers for this book. I think A and maybe 2nd print will be the best ones, outside of the crazy incentives. There were actually so many covers and incentives that the incentives might not do as well as a normal incentive would.

Actually the secret Variant might be the best to have…

Only 6 issues published so far and a crap ton of variants for #1

Seriously folks, I’d sell and move on. A show isn’t being made with only 6 issues published…unless Snyders only intention was to sell storyboards and an IP to Hollywood and drop the comic later.
