It can be yours for $300…Just sell a few of those Absolute batman #1s you’re holding on to…
You know I was thinking about this lately. With all the prices for keys on a freefall, I’ve thought about just using some of the funds from selling hot 10 books and just buying a key that I’ve always wanted.
It’s just that it’s so much more fun to find them out in the wild. The thrill of the hunt is so much more exciting than just shelling out the money to buy whatever key you want. It’s funny like that.
It’s pretty much the only reason I sell books or anything else on eBay for that matter. Starting to make my list for next year’s comic book goals. Not going to be as lofty as this past year was…just some easy targets.
Sales continue to pop off for me. Sold a bunch of Spawn books that has been sitting for a while, also a bunch of some other random non hot stuff.
Has anyone taken a look at there ebay sales this year vs last years. Even though this years seemed very slow I am only down 14% from last year.
Just curious how others are doing.
I wonder if it will be good…
Down 1% from last year (1/1 thru 10/29)
@SpicyWasabi yeah. Stuff is selling for me. I averaged a sale a day in October. Not too shabby. And it’s a lot of old stock. Stuff that has just been sitting there. Sold some random Ultimate Universe #2’s for example. Sold more GI Joe (they seem to sell anytime I list them) and other comics.
I remember you asking me before if I was selling GI Joe books and I told you I wasn’t listing them because I think they have some potential to heat up further. I’m just hoarding them for now. I listed a few to recoup some costs but I’ve been noticing that prices are again appreciating. I’m talking about open order books, the ratio variants are a different beast. Take Gi Joe 286 for example, this was a $10 book not that long ago. It’s taken another bump. You should be able to find these for cheap if you see them available but they just sell and go for some nice returns. Pretty good for open order books that aren’t even that old.
I am selling duplicates and triplicates I have been finding. IDW GI Joe moves copies.
I haven’t been coming across idw joes in the main run…just the spin-offs series. They don’t seem to have the same demand.
At NYCC I did find some scattered issues, but marked up to FMV or higher.
Definitely becoming scarcer in the wild, for sure.
The spin-offs could pick up next… I wouldn’t kick one out of my short box for a buck or two when I’m hunting.
Well, I owed @Gbess because he hooked me up at SDCC last year with some transformers exclusives.
So maybe send me more transformers comics and less flirty pics in the future.
Stupid Daylight Savings had me up early because my children have internal clocks of their own and wanted to be up technically an hour early with the time adjustment. So much for extra sleep.
Today is daylight savings? No wonder I feel so much more rested…I’m like, “I should be tired getting up at this time…but I’m not…”
It’s a good thing they do this stupid thing on Sundays…
So I had said I’m on par with last year…probably on target to be slightly ahead. But here’s an interesting chart. Basically what I see here is that my sales “trends” are essentially consistent with last year. The exception being February (thank you Ultimate Spiderman) and the June/July “lull” was nearly no sales this year (which I recall going several weeks at times between small sales, and them not even being comics)…where it was not quite as much in 2023
It’s pretty interesting, as I think it reflects general spending behavior towards comics, particularly moderns, basically funds for comics likely goes towards things like vacations or other summer events starting with tightening of the wallets in May, followed by the gradual increase in expendable cash in late august into early September.
Anyway, it’s probably just coincidence…but hard to not speculate!
