Odds and Ends

I saw only single comics in bags for $3.99.

Yes. We have several in my area. It appears not a single copy has sold in the last month.

Ozzy just passed away.

I always see people make Facebook marketplace deals. But this is the typical trash posted in my area.

So many state “still in plastic” like that’s the way they come.

Or collectors comics great for resellers and they are FCBD books.

Le sigh.

I always check Facebook because 1 in 100 times it really works out nicely. The other 99 times it is someone asking $100 a comic for dollar bin items. If you ever try to politely explain what they have is worth all of $10 bucks and you’d at least offer that because one comic is a series you just like reading, they get mad and insist you’re trying to rip them off.

Yup, just wasting your time with those folks. Just laugh at their listing and move on to the next one…

I’m curious what you all are buying these days. It seems like most of the marvel spec is dead with prices cratering. When I go digging, I typically look for newer, hot covers (nightwing, red hood, etc), 12-30 centers to add to the PC, or run fillers for things I want to read.

I seem to find a bunch of $20 old Marvel spec in dollar bins, and I’m leaving more and more of it in the bin.

One example that I have bought. I looked for a few years for cheap, nice copies of Howard the Duck 1 (Gwenpool). Never saw in the wild for under $30. In the past few months, I found 4 in dollar bins.

I mentioned it elsewhere but I have been on a 90’s junk craze. Like bad girl books. Recently bought the entire run of Now Comics Terminator series. Number 1 is first Terminator in comics. Got 1 (cgc 9.6) through 17 (I think that was the last issue) for $80. Still getting horror. But lots of bronze and silver books at good prices.

This is why I collect what I love, and don’t get me wrong I like Marcel but I feel at home with DC, always have. Now that is paying off when I sell comics and action figures that have appreciated in value.

I am just buying $1 books, or books I know so can flip for a decent profit pretty much immediately. I’ve run out of space for books. I need to move some. I’ve been a bit lazy with listing books too.

Marvel spec is practically dead. Same with Star Wars.

I’m actually going to start making a list of Bronze Age DC “horror” (if you can call it that) to look out for at local cons and such. Mainly Wrightson and Adams covers…if I find them on n decent condition and price. Maybe to flip, maybe to keep. I’m a little late to the game probably, but it’s something different to go after.

Otherwise I’m just looking for nice silver age non-key covers and stories for the PC at decent prices. Other than a few series I religiously collect, moderns are out.

ONLY high grade though of the 1st two bullets as low/mid grade of the first two can be found somewhat easily

Marvel spec (as someone mentioned) is dead. DC is up a tad, but a tad does me no good

Of my last 16 sales, only 2 are Marvel, which is really pretty wild.

7 DC (Mostly Robins, Nightwing, Red Hood)
7 Indy (John Wick, Ice Cream Man, TMNT, Hellboy, Haunt, etc)
2 Marvel

All things Robin-related are still selling well. Dan Mora doesn’t hurt.

Yeah, DC has been most of My sells recently. Quick count of my last 21 sales is 14 DC , 5 Indy, and 2 marvel. Crazy

Horror Comics (except for Golden age as I simply can’t afford to play in the sandbox)–any horror related theme I’ll buy. I will always buy Friday the 13th or Halloween books also. I love Bronze age horror but it’s not the best time to be a buyer… it’s the “in thing” these days and will cost you.

Romance Comics-I think these are under appreciated & under valued. Very hard to find in nice condition, an interesting reflection on society of those times, some great artists that are well known yet their romance work goes under the radar (John Romita as an example)

Charlton horror comics

Any video game related comics-imo, outside of Invincible Sonic is the #2 most asked about, sought after comics. Constant requests for Sonic when I’m observing at cons. I’ll buy every Sonic book I find if the price is even remotely fair.

Disney related books (but I stick to films I consider classics)

Bruce Timm and Darwyn Cooke books

This is the last season of Resident Alien. :sob: Loved the show just like TWD and The Boys.

I like when shows end after 3-6 seasons. More than that, I start to lose interest as they start to get a bit too repetitive. Walking Dead was a great example of that… I was so into that show and then after Season 7 I was like… meh… same ol same ol…
