Found this book (and the Melting Pot Sketchbook) in a lot of an auction, they were throw-ins on something else I was bidding on. But it caught my eye since it is early Kevin Eastman and Simon Bisley:

The interesting thing is this is the back cover:

So I was wondering if that prize was ever given out…

Hood1

Hood2

Comics in the 90’s were so crazy, apparently the hood hangs in the guy’s living room which is an incredible move. Now I’m not sure if I want to sell the book…

Found this thread about it:

Been hearing a lot of amazing reviews of dollar bin…er I mean Absolute Batman 14. It’s getting a lot of good press on various comic review sites (non spec).

You can read some of the reviews here on leagueofcomicgeeks that are non spoilery and from readers who are outside of the spec youtube bubble.

The Last Pennies from US Mint up for Auction

The very last lot is the one to really watch since those are the actual last pennies to ever get minted.

It would be darkly funny if whoever is President next brings back the penny for whatever reason (Republican or Democrat) and makes these worthless.

I don’t think they will. If they do, it’s going to be in the form of a medal and not “official” currency and not considered “circulated” coins.

The U.S. Congress has ultimate control over what gets minted by the U.S. Mint, as the Constitution grants Congress the power to coin money. Through legislation, Congress authorizes every coin and most medals produced by the U.S. Mint, which operates as a bureau of the Department of the Treasury. The Secretary of the Treasury can suspend production based on necessity, but Congress decides on the types and designs.

The other thing they need to do is stop printing dollar bills and only go with dollar coins. They’d save billions by stopping the production of dollar bills since they get rotated in and out of circulation to get destroyed and reprinted. Coins have a much longer “shelf” life out in circulation.

And on top of that, they should do away with dollar coins and start with $2 coins also. Think about it, what costs less than a dollar nowadays on most of your daily type of purchases? You can’t even buy candy at the corner store for less than a dollar most places and days…

If the US wants to become the 11th province you would already have $1 and $2 coins and not a penny to found anywhere…
