Glad you are Ok… Maybe you’ll see that guy riding around someday…
Anthony, that sucks and hope you’re feeling at least a little better!
One question keeps gnawing at me: Why did you move to the left? Wouldn’t that move you into his ‘lane’ since we Americans usually drive and walk on the right?
Simple curiosity, that’s all.
Sorry. I meant move to the right. I was in my lane. He remained in the center.
You know, the other week I was walking the dog on the sidewalk near my house and I usually wear earbuds while listening to audio books or music, but not sure how long this kid was riding his eBike behind me but finally I guess he got my attention and was like, excuse me… and I’m sitting here thinking, there’s an actual bike lane right next to the sidewalk… So as I slightly move over to let him pass, I point to the bike lane and tell him, “You know, there’s a bike lane, this sidewalk is for pedestrians”… his response was… “I don’t want to hurt my wheels”… WTF?
There is no bike lane or shoulder on the road where I was. I went a different way than how I went there, but was kind of mapping out the different ways my son could go to and from. he is 12, not a dumb kid, but still wanted to see the safety of it.
I am hoping that the town becomes a little more progressive when it comes to alternate forms of transportation. I mean, during the last snow storm it took weeks for the sidewalks to get clear and they threaten to fine us if we didn’t do our portion. Our biggest issue is there are not enough school buses to get the kids to school. I usually drive my kids, no big deal really, but a lot of kids ride bikes, ride e-bikes, or ride electric scooters that it has become kind of hard for them to take those means. It takes me about 15 minutes to drive him to school, about 10 minutes back. But took me 12 minutes round trip by e-bike, plus we were one less car on the road.
Ahh, that makes sense and thanks for the clarification. Like I said, it was gnawing at me and I was thinking you were actually to blame ![]()
Yeah, his was a terrible move
I hope you feel better today!
Thanks, the road rash brings back memories of when I rode skateboards in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. It doesn’t bother me. What gets me is I landed on my wallet, which is a ridge wallet with the AirTag holder. Landing on that bruised me pretty deep. As it was I got off lucky with not hitting my head or breaking anything. Went for a ride at lunch again today. Love cursing around at 40 MPH with the wind in my face.
Got to love Maryland weather. Today was 85 degrees and tomorrow it is going to snow up to one inch.
I was able to enjoy some of that today. Back to New England and foggy and 30-40s now.
How was your trip to Baltimore? Did you and all your traveling companions make it out alive?
Yes.
I was on standby and didn’t realize it…despite the flight not being close to full. There was no mention of it on my itinerary, my boarding pass, and when I asked the People at the counter why I did not have an assigned seat they did not tell me it was standby…they just said come back when boarding. I challenged them a bit about it too, to no avail.
About 30 min prior to that I got a text that I had cleared standby.
I had tried to move it up to an earlier one but they were all full….so it wasn’t guaranteed I was getting out until last minutes. Would not have wanted to stay…isn’t there a weather system moving in today?
It’s snowing. 85 yesterday and winter storm today. Maryland weather is always insane.
Sounds like Central Texas… we got that ice crap last month and literally 5 days later it was almost 90 one day, almost skipped work to go paddle boarding on the river.
Man. Anyone else find local shows far less fruitful these days? Just endless boxes of Marvel back issues in $1 bins that I have zero interest in. I found a couple ok books. But, I get to any X-Men or Wolverine or Avengers run and just skip it all. I spent $19 on 17 books in all.
Conan #1 has been an easy seller for me. Lobo, too.
I love Swamp Thing vol 1, and I’m trying to complete the run on the cheap, even if they are beat up.
A cool Cho Batwoman cover.
100% agreed. Far less fruitful than in past years. Folks really really know what they have now.
I will say this as well. Now that I frequently set up at various local shows, I see how prevalent the “pre-opening” deals are between dealers. I’m part of the problem now that I always hated - that is - selling prior to show opening. By the time the regular guys come in, alot of the deals on the good stuff is gone.
Yep - I’m the problem. I admit it. LOL ![]()
I haven’t been to one in several months…but I know they’re not going to have books that I’m looking for. Last one I attended I left with very little, and then after I hit up some local shops and found scores of Mora and Nightwing books…the vendors at shows don’t know to bring such books (or don’t have them).
I still like going though…I have skipped the past few as I wasn’t able to or in one case because the flu was really bad at that time and didn’t want to catch and release to my family.
Marshawn Lynch has an original graphic novel he did with AWA on the way in October. Kinda interesting. I made a blog post about it I’ll put up tomorrow or so.
