If a single bomb got everyone fired a lot of franchises wouldn’t be around. I’m gonna see how Lanterns and Clayface go before I utterly write-off this new DC.

Went to two comic shops in Salem Ma. One was huge but over priced. The other one kinda sucked. Sad.

Sorry to hear that. There’s a lot of variety in the size, content and prices at shops these days. For future reference, 3 of my favorite MA comic shops are New England Comics in Brockton, Rubber Chicken Comics in Bellingham, and Comically Speaking in Reading. They are about an hour apart from each other. And they occasionally have great sales events that are helpful on the wallet. Hope the rest of your MA trip goes better.
The trip has been fantastic over all. Great town. Very fun for horror fans. We stopped in Mystic Connecticut on the way and ate at Mystic Pizza. Did a bunch of museums and shopping. Gonna walk down to the water to see fire works tonight. Just the comic shops were lame. One was small and stinky in the Witch City mall. The other was huge and well stocked but everything was over priced. Found a ton of books but don’t want to over pay.

I’ve only been to Salem once even though I live in MA. It was in the Fall several years back when friends from out of town visited. Had a good time…family friendly.

You practically drove past my house on the way up.
If heading the same way back, consider stopping at a New Haven pizza place. Pepe’s, Sally’s or Modern Apizza.

Incredible store with size and content. And the variable content they have.
But yep, way way overpriced and I walk out of there with nothing.

@Bill 100%. Saw the Elizabeth Montgomery statue on the way. Stopped by Harrison’s. Found a ton of Adam Hughes books I don’t have (Tomb Raiders) priced at $10-15 each. Looked them up on eBay $3-4 each plus shipping. Um. Hard to decide because shipping costs still don’t add up to their prices. So I put them back. Adam Hughes Wonder Woman’s I find for $5-7 normally all $20.

@D-Rog Mystic is an awesome town. Tons of young lady’s dressed to the 9’s walking around. My son Joe was floored. It would be an awesome place to be young and single.

And Newport RI puts Mystic to shame. They are dressed to the 10’s and 11’s. Lots of money there and nightlife. A fun place to party.
Lots of summer rentals in Newport too…if you can find a summer job and into the social scene it can be a great experience when young.
I didn’t take full advantage as it wasn’t really my thing. But many friends back in my day did some good damage there.

Spider-Man Brand New Day projected to open with a domestic 228M which will make it the biggest movie of the summer smashing Toy Story 5’s 160M domestic opening. It will guarantee to cross over 1B worldwide with a chance to cross 2B, easily smashing Toy Story 5 and Minions and Monsters take.
But I was told that Gen Zs don’t care about superheroes…

Well…that was a very broad statement…mostly meant you just can’t expect Gen Z to go see a superhero movie just because it’s about a superhero. They’re not nostalgic about it like older generations.
I think Spider-Man is in a league of his own….hits across every generation and likely always will. Plus the three prior films did well, partly because they were tied in with the MCU block busters pre-Covid. I didn’t think SM3 was that good.
Can we have a breakdown of Gen Z ticket sales vs other generations? . I assume that’s how they’re making these 30 advance predictions.
I don’t think that’s too far from here might actually be on my way to Boston

It’s about 40 mins. btw Boston & Brockton w/out traffic. If you are in Boston, you may want to check out a shop called Comicopia. I haven’t been there in a while, but they had always seemed to have a decent stock of current books. Not sure about older stuff. Unfortunately, Boston can be difficult to get in & out of b/c of traffic & limited parking options so not a shop I frequent. There’s also Newbury Comics locations on Newbury St., at Faneuil Hall, and in Harvard Square (Cambridge), but their offerings are very limited. Only worth a quick visit if you are already there. And their shelving systems usually result in heavy spine damages to their books…something they seem clueless about.
Another place worth visiting (I think) is Comicazi (in Somerville).
I’ve been there a few times in the past few years. For a small shop in the Cambridge area, they have a decent amount back issues and collectibles. A lot of silver age marvel/DC too.
Yes, they carry a good amount of new releases. The parking isn’t too bad being pretty well north of downtown/Harvard.
It’s a cool area to visit. And you can also take the T right into Harvard Square (where there are a few more shops as well) and it’s only a few minutes walk/ride.
I’ve been there in recent months. Don’t bother with that location unless already there.
The thing with Newbury Comics is (1) they have few to none back issues, and (2) because they shove them into racks with horizontal “bars” which are hard to reach people end up bending the books forward to see what’s behind…unless it’s a new release (I.e. that week) most likely going to have severe spine damage.
Near Harvard Square there is a shop bellow street level calm The Million Year Picnic. It has a limited amount of new releases, but a decent stock of back issues for where it is. I haven’t been there in over 5 years though.
Staying just northeast of Framingham close to a Newbury comics and Bedrock Comics. Bedrock is closed today and tomorrow. So will check them out on Wednesday maybe. We plan on going into Boston to do some sightseeing this week so…… who knows.
