This is why I work from home so I don’t have to deal with all the idiots out on the roads.
But so many things I want to see outside my house
True, that’s when I take road trips and avoid the cities… ![]()
Hit my second Newbury location…. Huge store in the Natick Mall. WOW. Big let down.
Here was their new issue wall.
Grabbed a couple of books to read and went to try to check out.
Three women at the register asking the one of three clerks behind the counter to see every squishy they had.
I waited.
Other guy behind the counter was looking through a short box full of comics. Girl behind the counter was doing god knows what.
Finally get the guy to pay attention to me after five minutes to ring me up.
I asked if the get wiped out of books early. He said no. They hadn’t put all the new comics up yet. I said it’s 2:15 in the afternoon. He said yeah. I said ok can I get a copy of Absolute Batman. He asked me if I was a subscriber. I said no. He said maybe tomorrow if I came back they would get to putting all the books up, they were really busy. I said yes it looks like it. I then asked him if there were any comic shops in the area that sold comics. He directed me to Bedrock which is closed.
“Here! I have money that I want to give to you!”
“Nah. We’re busy or something.”
It’s really no wonder that so many businesses fail. Just do the easy stuff well.
It is clear they are more a pop culture store than a comic shop. Thats ok. It’s their business model. But I want comic books.
What’s a vaction? Haha…
Wow, that’s pathetic. Newbury Comics occasionally experiences delays getting their books, but displaying them should be a priority once received. To have 3 clerks working and no one focused on getting the books fully out asap seems crazy.
We are making the best out of a baseball tournament. Up here with college scouts again. Great thing about Joe playing with kids who are rising seniors is he gets to start to be seen early.
So we are not doing a real vacation but added a couple of days to an already planned baseball trip.
It’s actually “Framingham”. And the next closest shop might be Hall of Comics in Westborough. But I haven’t been there in years. Never really found any bargains there, but they do carry new books. You must think MA sucks for comic book folks…
.
No. I see the MA crowd pulling in good books. I am just not hitting the hot spots.
Newbury Comics would be a last resort. So yeah, don’t expect much if that’s what you’re hitting.
I was not impressed by hall of comics. I was there back in December? Organized, but very small store.

I always root for the wildlife with these stories but I kind of feel sorry for this guy, he was so far away so it just reminds you, these animals are not to be F**cked with…
My time in Yellowstone, I respected the animals.
No distance is a safe distance from bison. Should be a Mandatory watch for anyone entering the park.
