Online Comic Store Report Card

Bid on them and when you win them all only pay what you did on their website. Meh, why bother. They seem like a bunch of turds over there.

Having heard the horror stories about Comixposure I avoid them on Whatnot.

Just in case you all need a reminder.

Shady as ever

I got my order from Alterna Fall Indiegogo which was $13 shipped for 4 comics, some cards, and a print. The covers are like regular comics and the interiors are black and white newsprint. Packaging was perfect. Overall, I am very happy with everything and will be ordering some books from the Winter Indiegogo. Nothing for spec, just cheap fun.

Found that out the hard way. That setting is now on default not allowing orders when sold out.

I’m glad you are pleased! I used to read Alterna before I made a post on my blog questioning their apparent closeness with the, “Movement,” known as Comicsgate. Then I spent the next 48 hours getting hate-tweets so to say I’m on bad terms with Alterna now would be an understatement. Shame as I did like some of their books, but I got enough obscene insults to last me for a while.

Twitter is a dumpster. I’ve seen some vitriolic statements from comic creators and I just stopped following them. I focus on the cover/writing and leave it at that.

I don’t even have a Twitter or Instagram account.

The only reason I have facebooks is to keep up with my LCS’s as they post sales and things. And I request they hold certain new books.

Yeah, Twitter is a cesspool. It helps me promote the blog and read hilarious jokes about my favorite trashy reality television shows though, so I keep using it.

What’s Twitter or Instagram? I’ve got Facebook and I very rarely use it.

El Rey comics is a horrible store that cancels orders. Don’t do business with them you probably can’t anyways lol

Never knew about this. I just googled and found this. Might be worth a read.

Bounding into comics is a cesspool site, I wouldn’t recommend them.

I’m not familiar with any of these sites tbh. There’s enough regular political bs in life, I don’t need more political bs ruining comics for me lol.

Yeah, without getting political I’ll say that Bounding Into Comics has a very pro-Comicsgate slant. I’m not accusing you of holding any similar views, I know you just Googled something and saw stuff. I just have a lot of bad blood with anyone who supports that so-called movement after the sustained barrage of hate messages I got for daring to challenge anyone affiliated with it. I know plenty of folks aren’t even familiar with these so-called movements. I have one friend who doesn’t go on social media much at all and asked me whatever happened to Ethan Van Sciver. I had quite the story to tell him, to give an example of how niche these little hate groups can be…

Yea if you google comicsgate movement alterna it’s the first link that shows up. Never heard of comicsgate before today.

I usually order a bunch of books from TFAW to prevent this from happening, but pre-ordering Bad Idea books kinda prevents this…wow TFAW this is bad.

Can’t blame TFAW entirely, that’s all post office. It’s funny, I at times get these in pristine condition and then other times I get them as if they were mangled up by a wood chipper…

But yes, I do monthly shipments from TFAW just so everything is thrown into a box just to be safe.

That’s what I used to do and then just stopped ordering from them because of delays and a few errors with my shipments (books missing). Only exception has been the Bad Idea preorders I already had in the queue.

I mean, they could ship all orders in a manner where this wouldn’t happen. But it’s common knowledge they ship like this, so I’m not surprised. Just another reason why I don’t really order from them anymore.
