TFAW knows this is an issue.
Its been an issue for more years than I have lived (exaggeration)
They just don’t see it as financially feasible to correct it and as such, they don’t fix it knowing it is a problem.
I just wonder about the softer side of the business aspect which is loss of customer base.
What’s also crazy is I get more damaged books from them in the gemini mailers than the rigid mailers. I think they even claim they get more reports back from gemini mailers over the rigid ones.
Gotta remind ourselves, big stores like this, it’s a cost factor. They would lose more money if they used boxes and spent more time packing up single books as packing takes time and resources. Yeah, sucks when damages occur for us customers but gotta think on the entire level of how operations work in these cases. It all comes down to the loss and risk portion of how they operate in getting orders out the door.
True. This is also something I factor in when deciding not to order from them.
MyComicShop seems to ship out their books, from my experience, better protected and much quicker.
Yes but I don’t think they’re shipping out as many books compared to TFAW and Midtown. They also don’t do pre-orders which is likely why TFAW and Midtown do a shit ton more sales, etc.
Once upon a time MCS didn’t do so well on packing (they changed after I pointed out their double standards they had on their site too)… you can dig up my story, I’ll never do business with them again. When I’m treated like shit, you deserve zero pennies from me ever again!
If you contact them and ask for your orders to be marked “do not bend” you get the rigid Gemini type mailers.
MCS does pre-orders. It’s on their site.
Oh, do they? Oh, Previews orders but don’t list them ahead of time like Midtown or TFAW do until release night/day on leftovers…
I guess all we can hope is the changing of ownership will help
Maybe… it can go either way. But if they bought them cause they saw potential, then new company might have the resources to improve where TFAW was lacking money/resources.
I’ve been in my small rural post office early in the morning when they’re sorting and it’s not pretty. They have large bins that they remove packages from and toss in other bins. They’re not super rough but you can see how stuff can be easily damaged if not packaged correctly. Even then it’s no guarantee.
Still no clarity on if they are adding insurance to the shipping cost, to cover these damages. I’m still not happy with the relatively high shipping charge, for the value, speed, and condition. Have received books with tears and missing books, but their customer service is quite responsive and good; has shifted more to emails, and responds within a few days. So temper your expectations.
I received my Death of Dr Strange: Bloodstone variant bundle order from @faele Villain Gaming and the packaging was excellent. I love the bubble mailer with the flap that fits the book perfectly. I’ve actually reused all the packaging to ship an order out. Rest assured if you order books from him they will be well packaged. As evidenced by all the raving reviews.
I have my account set up with “Do Not Bend”. Make sure you send a dm in chat that you want your books shipped “Do Not Bend” and set it in your account. I got my replacement copy today of Mother F Goose 1:10, TFAW sent the reg cover instead of the 1:10, and sent me the 1:10 in this mailer>
Looks like TFAW is now shipping without peanuts?
Did they have bubble wrap under the books as well?
No they did not put bubble wrap on the bottom
How is everyone feeling about dominion comics today after these emails went out?
To our fellow dominator!
On January 11th’s FOC, Marvel Comics decided (last minute) to provide the photo for Star Wars: Darth Vader #20 (Sprouse Lucas Film 50th Anniversary Variant) cover.
This caused every comic book fan in the United States to order a copy as fast as possible.
We thank you very much for ordering with Dominion Comics but due to extremely high demand, we are unable to fulfil your order for this book.
Marvel decided to allocate only 15,000 copies of this book amongst the 2,500 comic book retailers in the United States. If divided equally between all stores, that would mean each store would only get 6 copies each.
Unfortunately, Dominion Comics was allocated none.
