I ordered a couple Venom 33s from Gleason’s site what, 2 months ago? Emailed them on Friday about it. Shipping notice email came through today. I’m surprised how often this happens. You need to stay vigilant with these small operation shops.
Now, let’s hope I don’t get garbage copies. Fingers crossed.
Okay, I know I’ve said I’m done with TFAW before. I’m done now after my shipment of 23 books in a much to small box that they couldn’t even close properly. They wrapped the books as seen and this was what it looked like with barely any packing peanuts on the edges so the whole thing was easily able to shift and I’ve luckily only got a few corner impact creases. This is a PSA on his not to ship comics. First the box was much to small. Secondly the bundles need to be smaller and wrapped so the books can’t shift. Not partially wrapped with what amounted to a thin paper bag type material with one piece of scotch tape holding 23 books in place. Thirdly if there are spaces on the edges the books will shift causing damage.
I’m sick of the bs excuses from TFAW. It’s not rocket science. Maybe TFAW should post these pics at everyone’s work station to show them how not to package books. Again I only ended up with 3 damaged books but it could’ve been much worse.
@ToddW The brown paper wrapping is not gonna hold books. Idc if unknowncomics is using postage items improperly they ce secure and tight. Tfaw is using the right items poorly. That sucks with the high price shipping costs pack em right keep the movement to a minimum inside the box. Guess you gotta hit up Kyle and ask for replacements.
It just seems so inconsistent. I’ve had good luck with my last bunch of orders. I just got a similar 20-ish books order from them. The books were alternated, and COMPLETELY wrapped and taped in the brown paper with sufficient peanuts. It was very secure, and I’d guess all books were 9.6-9.8. As good as I’d get in store. I was really happy with it. But, it’s this lack of consistency that is concerning. It seems like if you get packer A, you get it done correctly. But, B is still cutting corners.
Yea it is very inconsistent. I have also been lucky with my last several shipments. Just seems like one or two people in the warehouse don’t take the packaging seriously
I’ve managed warehouses for twenty years. It’s seems they are under staffed and rushing. I have orders from 3/12 still processing which is a very long time. When we get behind we stay late to get caught up and ensure accuracy.
That’s gonna happen in just about any industry. There’s a reason I don’t eat at fast food for this very reason… most of those people do not care about their job…
I did contract work for a client once that had a huge 40k sq foot warehouse and I swear every time I was onsite (once every couple weeks) to do some networking and server fixes, half the people there were new…
The shipping is the only issue I’ve ever had with TFAW. They have the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. I just seem to have bad luck with them packaging things proper. It could’ve been much worse.
I also had another order come in from an eBay seller that was poorly packaged. Bagged and boarded with an additional backing board on the front side of the book and placed in a lightly padded envelope.
TFAW? If so, yes, they’re playing catchup from those weeks they had severe delays in getting their books in and people not able to make it into warehouse to actually ship them out.
Ping them regardless. When you pay for a premium comic variant, that’s when I do expect minty fresh NM or NM+ since you are paying premium. If it was $3.99, I wouldn’t even bother.
Got two Venom 33 trades from the Gleason sale (finally). Both were well packed in a gemini and were sandwiched between additional cardboard. This is exactly how I ship things, so it was nice to see that same method deliver good results. Both are pretty damn near flawless.
