Online Comic Store Report Card

Yeah I received mine this weekend. Great packaging and all books look great. Took awhile to get here, but glad it finally arrived and in good condition.

How long does Unknown usually take to go from last books received to shipped order? I have books that had the last ones release a week ago and it’s still an unfulfilled order.

It should be fulfilled to ship this week. That’s how it’s been my last few orders. I messed up adding some DC books that just released last week so by Thurs/Fri it gets shipped out.

Just double checked. Last order final book released th 14th label made the 20th books picked up 23rd got to my door the 28th(my postal lady saysvmy boxes are heavy so she waits for help)

Considering most of the USPS flat rate are rated at 70lbs max, every postal delivery worker should be able to lift 70lbs as a requirement of their job.

I’m on weekly shipment from TFAW and got three orders today, however that works, including my order with 4/7 releases that I was convinced was lost since there hasn’t been any updates for two weeks. On the plus side, everything was in perfect condition and I got the Avengers 44 Momoko virgin variant I ordered that they had priced as a 1:10 but was apparently a 1:100.

Just got a shipment in from Comic Cavalcade in Illinois. Everything came in great condition, packing was superb (box with styrofoam and packing peanuts). I had to add something on after my initial order was placed and customer service was very helpful, kind and fast to respond. The package shipped quickly after the order was placed, next day I believe. All in all, it was an amazing transaction and I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

I got another package from The Canadian Comic Bin today as well. Very much the same as above. Had a question that was answered kindly and quickly. Comics shipped the same day and were packed well. Everything arrived as described and very quickly. Very happy with them also!

Just got a TFAW shipment. I was worried cause the box had a huge blow on one of the corners but all the books came in minty condition, even the backer boards and bags didn’t get any crunchy corners from the blow.

They’ve been on point just recently. Hoping it stays the same.

My order from DCBS came in today (I get it shipped once a month to save some money) and it was probably the largest order I have ever had. When I opened the box I immediately could tell from the first bundle (about 20 comics) there was damage to the books. I was getting pretty pissed as it seemed the entire bundle was damaged and not minor dings. As I went through the rest of my books I noticed none of the other bundles had the same damaged. So I went back to the original bundle with the damage and started to realize I didn’t order any of these books…

Has anyone ever received an extra bundle of books before as extras from DCBS? or was I just some how incredibly lucky and only the package I didn’t order get damaged in shipping?

Thats funny if they grabbed a handful of what they consider junk books and just sent them in with your order. HERES SOME TRASH FOR YOU, ENJOY!

That is weird. I’ve never gotten something I didn’t order from DCBS. And, up until my last order, I would have said I’ve never gotten a damaged order from them.

In fairness, my last order was from the end of December, and from DCBS’ “In Stock” section, NOT their pre-orders. I have never gotten damaged or incorrect pre-orders from DCBS, but my orders are small and TFAW’s ordering system has wooed me over to them.

The “In Stock” books were obviously imperfect (spine tics ranging from shrug to WTF) before shipping. They were incentive variants that were priced at cover. There was no mention of them being less than NM condition, which I think was lame, but I kept them all and didn’t ask for returns or credit due to the cheap price.

Wow. I have a feeling that’s how my next three orders are going to be. I’ve stopped placing pre-orders with them and have taken my business elsewhere for the time being, because of the processing time.

I’ll be following this thread to see if it gets fixed because I find their prices and service to be great, but the processing times are too much at the moment.

I ordered one as well, not knowing. Ended up being pleasantly surprised I got a 1:100 for the cost of a 1:10

Yeah that was sweet. I think I only paid $6 for the virgin

My Avengers #44 Momoko 1:100 hasn’t shipped. Along with By the Horns #1, The Rise #1,
Chasing the Dragon #1, America Chavez #1 1:25, Joker #1 Team Cover, Spider-Woman #10 Womens History Month, Snatched #1, Star Wars High Republic Adventures #3 1:10, GI Joe a Real American Hero Serpentor Uncoiled and 14 copies of You promised Me Darkness #1. There would be more if I didn’t have them remove several titles from my pre-order queue that they hadn’t shipped for months and now the titles are stacking back up again. I have contemplated just removing my credit card from their website and just never ordering from them again. I probably won’t do that because I am not that much of a scumbag but I have never in my life had this much trouble getting orders fulfilled from a company in 40 years of buying comics or really buying any product from anyone.

Used goldenapplecomics.com it seems like months ago, and it was, but in retrospect it was awesome. They allowed me to preorder some virgin covers at cover price, before the mark ups took place like Minky Woodcock, The Last ronin, and several other variants that turned out to be low print runs. I spec quite a bit, but sometimes we just get lucky as I prefer to support local and I do, but no issues what so ever with Golden Apple. Cali based shop, used their combined shipping to place several orders over the course of a few months, once the last issue was released. I sent them an email asking them to combine my orders, and a few days later, it showed up. Box was beat like it owed someone money, but the inside was what mattered, comics were triple boxed, staggered to minimize spine pressure when shipped, and styrofoam peanuts to prevent movement. Definitely investment worthy shipping practices. In the end, I got just over 30 books, and not one was lost to the mail system. It definitely boosts my confidence working with them again, their back issue prices are legit. Happy collecting y’all.

TFAW order came in. Poorly packed. Box was beat up. Every book had multiple corners impacted to some degree or another.

I’ve seen worse but this breaks my winning streak of maybe 4-5 orders without damages. This is also the first order shipped via DHL/USPS in a while.

Guess it’s back to fedex.

I’ve resorted to FedEx too when it comes to TFAW. I had two orders that shipped 4/21 that showed Thursday 5/13. Probably the worse shipping I had. DHL has a habit of letting packages sit in warehouses without moving. When the box arrived, it had a hole- I was terrified I had damages. Luckily, all comics were perfect. TFAW needs to wrap all comics together with paper. It’s kinda hit or miss with using a paper wrap to package all comics together and just setting the comics in a stack in the box loose. I still have no idea how those books in a stack made it with no damage .

Yup - my box had a hole in it too. On top of 3 corners being banged up. Usually, it’s just a single corner right and so all books that were damaged would have the same corner beat up (assuming they weren’t alternating books , etc). This time was different.

Books were not wrapped at all and the box wasn’t packed tight enough so books could be heard moving around in the box before I even opened it up.

The backing boards did save a lot of the books from being worse.

They put this large piece of thin cardboard in the box on top of the stack of books. Gives an idea of the corner impact that all books endured - (books don’t look as bad as this).
