That has absolutely nothing to do with the reason I’m not fond of it.
Mental illness is a very important topic and I take it very seriously. I don’t recall anyone “dumping on it” because of its portrayal of mental illness as a core element. I work with patients daily who suffer from a variety of profound mental illnesses.
I’m certainly allowed to dislike a television program without the mistaken presumption that it’s a negative reflection of my views on that topic. I’ll continue to make it just fine.
Long drawn out drama is for shows like Downtown Arby’s. I want super hero action in a superhero series. Good grief this will put you to sleep waiting for Moon Knight to actually do something.
I’m going to call it that going forward.
Those Brits got the Beef!!!
Spaceballs is in my top 5 movies.
Interesting comments. It was clear before the series came out that it would only be 6 episodes, so I didn’t expect anything to be built for the future but did hope that the character would be well developed. I think they have done that. There was also at least speculative discussion about MK showing up in other shows and/or the big screen. With the way the character has been developed, albeit differently than I had hoped for, he can be plugged into a number of shows without having to backtrack on who he is or how he got his powers. It would be pretty clear who is Mr.Knight and who is Moon Knight.
I think the appreciation of a character that is in live action is totally different than the appreciation of the comic character. I personally think Iron Man isn’t worth my time in the comic books, but I think he is handled well for cinema. I also do like the MK comic character more, but the show is suitable and I have enjoyed being able to watch it. Of course I would like to see more action, but hopefully that will happen with the MK character in other shows.
I’m enjoying it.
I mean, John Carpenter doesn’t make bad movies so it makes sense you’re a fan of it.
Have you seen Doom Patrol? Ever heard of the LEGION series? If anything, MK makes them both excellent series portraying superpowered individuals struggling with mental illness.
Doom patrol is my current favorite series and I’ve only seen the first season of Legion but it was excellent as well. Though I started watching Peacemaker and love that as well.
I can’t suggest highly enough Doom Patrol. I love that show. The cast is perfect.
I also just watched the first season of LEGION. Excellent all around plus Aubrey Plaza.
Peacemaker was a wild ride. The humor wasn’t my thing but I got past over it and enjoyed for what it is. Gunn is a great writer.
Thanks! I have not watched either. Will check them out. And the subsequent comments reminded me about Peacemaker too.
I hope you enjoy them!
What I love about today’s superhero shows and movies is that they are finally freed from being boxed in on a stereotypical storytelling of a superhero. Right now, they can be drama, a political allegory, noir, fantasy, horror, action adventure, thriller and so on. There’s something for everybody.
False.
My hopes are raised and dashed quite quickly.
Me too. I was hoping for a Season 2 with more actual Moon Knight in action.
What is MCU Source? I’m not in Twitter so don’t know their reputation. Seems to me taken a hit with this one.
They post sh*t to the wall and sees what sticks. There’s NEVER any sources, yet they have a tone of followers and engagement.
