He has listed some nice Jim Lee Superman’s as well.
Did he list any Futurama? I’m slowly building the whole run
Nope. Seems to have a decent amount of back issues as well. Stuff that’s not listed. I had the first issue in newsstand on my list but still haven’t gotten around to getting it. A great show.
This was my grail, it was the cover that got me back into collecting. About 5 months after I started collecting again the book just randomly appeared on the shelf at my LCS but they wanted like $75 or something for it. I said from the start I won’t spend more than cover price or less on a book and if it was more I’d need to sell one to fund the other. About 3 months passed and I looked at it every time I went in, luckily it wss over priced so no one grabbed it.
I then sold a book and had the extra money to buy it and luckily for me that weekend my LCS had a buy 1 get 1 free so I ended up buying a CGC 9.8 ASM 4 1st Silk and then choosing this book as my free one. Sent it to CGC a few months later and it came back a 9.8. I will always have this book in my collection, something I’ll pass down to my son for him to remember that this was Dad’s favourite book.
My new Artgerm grail that I am chasing is this one, hoping one day I will find one, they pop up on ebay every once in a blue moon but I don’t want to risk international shipping with a book that costs that much.
Very cool. Thanks for the in-depth overview.
I had the lady death artgerm, but it was a print. I couldn’t afford the kickstsrter tier for the actual book.
Lots of buying low and selling high the past 6 months off good tips from CHU. Plus a big sale here or there.
I have 3 comic goals in 2024:
- Transformers The Movie Winter Special (UK - high grade)
- Amazing Spider-man #14 (2.0-3.0)
- Marvel Spotlight # 5 (Mid Grade, 3-6).
The first two I’ve now accomplished in the first 3 months. So I got some time to be patient with the 3rd. This book is not an investment as much as it’s a PC book just because since I started collecting at the age of 12 I thought it was unobtainable. And yet here it is.
Although the color seems to be more on the off-white side now (it was graded in 2016) there are no chunks missing, no major staining, and the colors are bright. It looks like it was not pressed, but I think this book maxes out at a 3.0 regardless. Very happy.
I have ASM 134 and 238 as well, rounding out my first goblin keys.
Now the journey starts for the journey for the 3rd grail.
A little bit out of my price range, but thanks for looking out for me.
I still got a ways to go (and some books to sell) before I can fund it too…
As soon as I found out Crafti made their Treasury FLEX Frame in Acrylic/Clear I immediately ordered it with 99% UV-Protection.
This was my final step with this book. I also added the Curator Kit, it pairs digital experiences like photos and videos to existing FLEX Frames & X-Slabs.
I programmed it to show both COA’s and the cover code for list celebrities and others.
Is that a signed Ali? And a Whitman variant? Wowza!
Yea yea yea - that deserves the $50 frame treatment.
(Side note:) Now you just have to get Superman to sign
Sadly the greatest Superman of all times, the one who would go well with the Ali signature, has passed.
