Something is Killing the Children

Every speculation site is banking on this being a popular tv show. Retailers finally caught on and started doing variants because its easy and cheap to use art already produced. Its why i posted above which issues will carry the best value.

I’d be more concerned if the overall print run was at 90,000. But, these Boom exclusives have a minimum of 500, so having a couple isn’t necessarily the end of the world. Still more covers than we all want for a mid-run issue.

Here’s where this is. Let me know if I’ve missed any. Pretty solid set of covers, but that 1:50 is pretty woof, especially next to that 1:100. The Mutant Beaver/Trinity set feels like the winners of the store sets, but those sold out almost instantly. Guessing the others will be a little easier to nab if that’s your cup of tea.

So a minimum of 5000 has been added to the print run.
Thats an extra 200 1:25 , 100 1:50 and 50 1:100

Not to mention that Scotts Collectables is bragging that they have a “hook up” with Tynion and that they will be able to get as many as they want of the 1:100 variant.

This issue is bust imho. Whats even funnier is that some spec groups are saying the 1:100 is a good investment & $200 each.

Yeah i was on board for thinking the 1:100 might be a good purchase, but after seeing that Scotts on Facebook group i had a change of heart.

No idea what Frankies and Black Cape have for print runs, but if it’s 500 each, that’s just 2100 extra + the extra incentives. Not a big number at all.

Those black covers for Scott’s makes me nervous. I might go for the Black Cape, but we’ll see costs. Again, I think the first two were the hits of this set.

Its always in threes with covers, trade dress. Virgin and BW The normal numbers go 500,250,100

The exception to this rule is when its a print from art already being used.

I have ideas on how to stop all this madness, but lets be honest, no retailer would ever agree to what i have to propose.

Also, dont forget that covers A,B plus the variants will be store exclusives as well and they will sell them in sets. (Except the 1:100 which the artist requested not to be a store wxclusive)

Ether way, the market will decide which are the winners

Makes sense.

Let’s just hope this is a new storyline kickoff effort and isn’t an every issue thing going forward. Doesn’t seem sustainable.

I know 12 is spoken for as well. I know of 4 stores doing vAriants.

Not always. I believe Black Cape is one cover.

FYI - Black Cape has signed on with Boom! to do a store exclusive cover for issues 11-15, which is the next story arc.

Frankies goes on sale 9pm est Weds

@Alana Great, that along with the other cover exclusive the same day should put them even further behind.

My thoughts exactly. I’m being patient but I have orders from way back in June that are still unfulfilled :man_facepalming:

People must really love Frankie’s, because it sounds a bit like a trainwreck over there right now. I kinda expected the pitchforks to be out at this point.

Side note: another cover option. SSCO has a foil variant of the B cover.

Did you see the print run for that or frankies?

The owner of Frankies is having alot of growing pains AND health issues atm. For flipping books his shop isnt exactly the best right now due to the delays and “striking while the spec is hot”

I wish him the best on his health and im sure once he has everything running again that things will be more on time.

So if ur looking to buy for your PC his site is still one of the best , looking to flip a hot book? Not so much.

Maybe since he had health issues. Which is a bummer but if you’re running a business with hundreds or thousands of customers, you need to find a suitable replacement or employ someone to back you up when you can’t handle or run the business.

I don’t think I’ve ever ordered from Frankie’s myself. I don’t shop at all the online garage store shops that have popped up all over the web either. Seems like any and everyone has a Diamond account now and runs a comic shop… I hate to say this but I’ll stick with the bigger retailers for now. Best of luck anyone attempting to open a online comic shop… so much competition now…

I think people started to “love” Frankie’s because he was one of the first that I was aware of to have a lot of Peach Momoko variants coming out right at the height of her popularity earlier this year. As I mentioned above, I have orders from June that are still not fulfilled. I haven’t made a big issue about it because he has continued to be up front about the delays in shipping. However I do feel that he should back off on doing any more pre order items until he gets all of his orders current, especially being as far behind as they are. I know he also recently opened a brick and mortar store, but at some point I could see the outrage start to build from past customers still waiting for orders from 3+ months ago.

It’s almost October, guys.
If a “retailer” still hasnt mailed you an order from June, contact your credit card company. There is no sense in waiting.
