I really dig this series, and these Mack covers are fantastic. But, this is getting old. Same thing with We Live. The whole damn story is 5 issues, but they just keep cranking out reprints and incentives on reprints and exclusives on reprints. And now 20 more reprints at 2X cover price for SIKTC.

It’s a crazy idea, but maybe just release a new story for SIKTC and We Live? Two of their most popular series, and they’re on hiatus all the time.

Yeah, man. They are milking an extremely successful franchise that makes them money. People buy these things. Stores order 500k copies of House of Slaughter. Demand says release a 2nd print of the FCBD issue, people order it…

You guys claim to be comic fans, then a franchise gets uber popular and you’re mad they keep printing a story people want to read that keeps picking up new fans everyday.

If you want the comic industry to continue to exist, you might want to embrace the titles that bring people into your hobby and keep them there.

Just don’t spec on the title if you’re so damn worried about Boom milking it. You don’t have to purchase a single one of these books. But others will. I hope there’s a 117th printing of #1 some day. That means this thing was huge and my lone 1st print #1 will probably still be okay.

You know what. I’m personally fine with it. I have 1 and I’m missing 2-6 so its a good way for me to actually have all the issues collected without having to spend an insane amount on the back issues

They haven’t reprinted 2-5 for a LONG time. There are new readers to this series every day. There is a prequel story on the way.

I wasn’t in on these books when they were released 2 years ago, so getting an opportunity to have floppy copies of 1-5 and not have to pay crazy resale is appealing to me, and I’d assume many others. Not everyone wants a TPB or digital versions.

Again, just don’t buy these if you’re all set with the series. I hope Boom NEVER stops printing this story, which means it’s a monster for years. It’s good for comics and the industry to have an indie title this gigantic.

I know your earlier prints could take a hit on FMV though. Sad.

Are they actual readers or just speculators and collectors buying up more editions of it? I would say it’s the latter since most people who are going to read it will pick up the trades or hardcover editions (since those out sell floppies by a long stretch yearly across all publishers).

But they are milking it, no one say that’s wrong, but all they’re doing is making it less special in my opinion. And I’m willing to bet a lot of the demand is at the retailer level, then the speculator and collector level, not the consumer reading level.

“new” “special” “exclusive” “premium”
Say everything, but that it’s a 9th print. I think $25 would’ve made more sense since this looks to be open-order. I’ma have to pass, but I enjoy that artwork.

People that want to READ the series…issues 1-5… can BUY the tpb or read the series online (for free)

Boom reprinting issues #1,2,3,etc has NOTHING to do with attracting new readers. NOTHING. They are for collectors ONLY.

You must be new if you havent caught on by now. Boom only caters to collectors with all of these additional printings.

Let’s keep it clean, not make it personal please.

Its up on the TFAW site:

Something Is Killing the Children Slaughter Pack #1

I have read issues 1-5, and like it, though a little bit slow paced. I do like the Mack covers and will be ordering a pack or two (for spec). Probably will be heavily ordered, so may not heavily spec on it.

Ordered the hardcover a while back through my LCS for $50 which collects issue 1-15 see they selling for almost $200 now. Hope my LCS gets them in saw some talk about shortages.

Pre ordered the slaughter pack. I had first printings of 1-8 before, but sold them because the getting was too good. Guess I’ll build a Mack set now and sit on them

Boom being boom again.
Deluxe slipcase back in print.

"This limited edition will feature an exclusive slipcase and be limited to its first printing. "

So they lied, again… typical Boom catering to collectors.

I believe you missed the point. @Joe said he wished they would write new stories for these popular books. That would, imo, make more sense for a fan of comics, than being excited about the 20th reprint of the same 5 issues. It sounds like you’re not a fan of comics, but a fan of reselling comics. A true fan would want new stories, not reprints. :man_shrugging:

So is the main series on hiatus again? I haven’t seen any mention or previews for issue 21
