Star Wars: The Bad Batch spec

Heir to the Empire has a legit chance at becoming a mega Star Wars key down the line.

Definitely a great book and condition sensitive as well. If they ever make Thrawn a major player on a show it will blow up.

And it’s already a pretty pricey book
but not out of reach for most.

I got a decent copy for $2.50 CND last week. :upside_down_face:

I was at my LCS today going through the SW box for a different book and what do I run across
Star Wars 19 and 21. Ha. I know it’s likely bad spec but for $3 I wasn’t going to miss out in case it was something totally different that we don’t know about yet.
18 copies of #19 sold across the A/B/1:25 and 7 copies of #21 sold in the last week. I still believe it’s bad spec though and mixing up the two Force 99s.

background to why SW19 is moving copies.

" Star Wars 19

First appearance of S.C.A.R. Squadron

As for that Bad Batch show there are no comic appearances of the team but there is an interesting team appearance with major ties to Clone Force 99. It is even possible that this group is one in the same. Creator Jason Aaron had some interesting comments on this and there is ample evidence to support. In truth I had no idea how badass this group is. With no end to the Bad Batch narrative this is as good a spec play as any."

Task Force 99 is the SCAR squadron. I don’t agree with them possibly being one in the same due to the timelines, decades apart (Leia on the cover of SW 19 wasnt born during The Clone Wars series if I recall correctly my prequel timeline, but in full disclosure I haven’t read Jason Aarons comments on it) but could D+ change their Story a bit? I suppose. But with SCAR squadron being Stormtroopers, I don’t see D+ using them as the lead on a show which tends to have positive hero leads. Now could they play with the timeline a bit and make the SCAR squadron villians in a Bad Batch show? Possibly.

Thanks for sharing this. I mean, a potential connection, an admission from the creator the characters were inspired bad Bad Batch, and the fact it’s a first appearance of new characters. If I see if for cheap, I’m probably going to pick it up before everyone clues in.

Yeah. I grabbed cheap under cover copies at my LCS yesterday. Was worth tossing in my SW first box. Even if they don’t use them in Bad Batch, seems like an interesting group they can use as villains at some point.

Yeah
they are decent books anyways & I didn’t have them. Got #19 & #21 for cover today.
If it turns into something
cool. If not, no biggie.
I still say it’s a stretch, but that can be said about an awful lot of spec.

That’s like $1.75 in REAL money :stuck_out_tongue: I keed I keed.

Oh, you’re not the first to make fun of the Canadian dollar here on CHU. Lol. But, it really is to my advantage. I buy a book for $5 CDN, sell it for $20 US, and then I end up with $28 CDN in my bank account. I love it when our dollar tanks, tbh. And I’ll take the poor dollar and free healthcare (and access to a plethora of CPVs) any day of the week.:beers:

I bought this $18 free shipping today how’d I do? This issue use to be considered scarce when I was a kid I don’t know if it is anymore. It’s a newsstand too.

He’s got 3-10 in high grade newsstands any of them worth it? Probably can get them around the same.

Well
 Not entirely free
Y’alls higher tax rates pay for health insurance but I know I would happily pay more in taxes for continued health coverage for all.

Unless it’s a 3.5 million dollar gene therapy treatment and then your free Canadian insurance doesn’t cover it. Peoples pay insurance probably doesn’t cover it either😂

Should I start a “Show off your Star Wars Comics” thread? Think it would gain traction? Folks can show of their favorites and/or valuables.

Free enough
I had an issue late last year with my man region. Visited several doctors. Had MRIs and other scans. Saw a few different specialists. Got diagnosed (minor sports hernia) and it literally cost me nothing. That’s free, baby. :canada: (I’m also essentially self employed and I have no medical insurance). You can’t avoid taxes, my friend. And there is no debtors jail in Canada, so, even if you don’t pay your taxes you can still walk around a free man with free healthcare. :man_shrugging:

Hawaii has free healthcare too well before any Obama care the tourism tax pays for it if you don’t have it through your employer or you’re unemployed.
