Star Wars: The High Republic

This particular shop is ‘different’ because it is operated by CBSI workers. It is literally a book made by a speculation site, and sold as super duper rare speculation book. Sad Lemon is greasy as f*ck too, but they are a whole other can of worms.
It’s a moot point, I believe. I don’t see these ‘exclusive’ books holding much long term value, if history has taught or shown us anything. I’d be selling now while this market is red hot. No way this market continues at this rate once normal society opens up again in the next 6-12 months (hopefully). I’d sell now to capitalize, then if I really wanted a copy, I’d bet you’d be able to get one cheaper than what you could sell it for now, in about 6-12 months after society opens up fully.

I will only buy an exclusive for my personal collection. I might get a few depending on the cover to resell so that they might pay for the one that I am keeping. The days of getting exclusives to try to flip are over for me. There are too many exclusives out there every month that it winds up being not that exclusive…

Sadly, yes, all of what you said is also true…

We should start a new topic of “Greed in the hobby or hobbies”.

You have guys follow the trucks into Walmart and other stores and grabbing all the sport cards and cracking them open to resell on the internet. You have guys buying new miniatures reselling them are vintage or rare colors at 4 to 5 times the price when you can still buy them at original cost from dealers or the maker. Then you have these shops making exclusives that nobody can get and then they are dumped on the after market at crazy prices. Or making up BS about numbers. If you say something then do it!

I am a dealer of a few different companies that make toy soldiers and other related products. I only sell at the shows at either retail price or a few dollars more. I make a few bucks and enjoy the hobby with fellow collectors. I hate the dealers that are just scumbags and have no interest in the hobby they are dealing with. Anytime I see a dealer that has an attitude or does not respond when I say hello I will keep walking by.

I act as a middleman between some of the companies with giving advice and feedback from collectors. I have an “exclusive” set of miniatures that I am selling later this year. I had a some help by a few different companies on this project. I am selling at a two set limit by collector. Hopefully when I retire I can get more products produced and start doing some of it myself. Anyway that is my rant of the day, lol.

Your not wrong. But if their weren’t buyers, these stores would not make so many ‘exclusives’ and ‘store variants’. I personally don’t buy them, unless I really want one for the PC. Sticking with cover A still works out well for me.

I like this convo I saw on instagram, some shop posted they were selling sealed X-Force 1 copies (without the deadpool cards) for $20 each, someone commented “dollar bin books” and the shop responds “aren’t most new keys straight from the dollar bin”

“keys”…LMAO

One of the problems with these censuses is that books are cracked to be pressed and reslabbed, or signed, or just switching from CBCS to CGC (or vice versa), and rarely do people identify this to the original grading company to update their census. Seems unlikely to contribute much for newer books like this, but definitely older books the census is off.

Just need to keep that in mind when pulling numbers off these databases…

Better yet, “new”’keys.

A true “key” is an established book that has stood the test of time. They take years until people accept them as true key. It’s not made overnight…therefore no such thing as a “new” key.

There isn’t as much of a concern with those issues regarding modern books, imo. Nobody is cracking a 9.8 in hopes of getting a 9.9 or 10. And the Sig series is negligible for most modern books on the census, imo.

Edit:. I failed to read the entire post before responding. And my response was redundant. My apologies, DRog.

Looks like there’s a walmart variant of High Republic 1 out there

Sneaky ass Wal mart. Now, do I risk my health and safety traveling to the wrong side of the tracks to get these? Unlikely.

Damn winter storm got me inside for a few days. Luckily I usually have no problem finding the walmart books. @drunkwooky I’ll look for you if you want

My Walmart, that typically has really good inventory of the cards and comics, has been a barren wasteland of late. I wonder if it’s inventory time or something? Nothing today, but I’ll try tommorow. It’s also odd, as in the past, new books have always hit the first week of the month.

I don’t think these will be scarce…I personally haven’t had a hard time finding multiple copies of each variant the past year,

None on eBay yet…first ones usually sell up to triple cover.

Usually these things come in waves…wonder what other new 3-packs are out.

Meanwhile at my Wal Mart:
