Star Wars: The High Republic

I am sure CGC probably took it off it’s census when they realized the error

Ain’t no one receiving a free coverless book at the ymca and sending it to cgc fast tracked😂

So definitely shannagins going on this guy also has 9.8 with cover for auction. CBSI care to explain why your exclusives are looking like a scam?

They don’t need to explain… common sense has already answered that question…

While in no way defending CBE on this, I think this is on the person who received the coverless book with his two exclusives and submitted it for grading. He may have done it as a lark, but then grading it a 9.8 without mentioning that it’s incomplete or otherwise qualified is on CGC. Then, upon its return, when the seller saw that CGC made a huge error in his favor, it’s on him for listing it in a way that, at minimum is misleading (“timeline variant”), and at worst fraudulent, trying to pass this off as a legitimate, complete variant.

The more I think about this, the more it seems like an egregious error on CGC’s part. I mean, there isn’t even a UPC on either “cover” of this supposed variant and the back “cover” is Marvel’s uniform teaser page for the next issue. How in gods’ name they didn’t at least question this is a huge mystery to me.

Seriously Spartans… This is madness.

Are they even doing anything more than “glancing” at recent Moderns for a few seconds over there in Florida?

Ah, Florida Man strikes again.

Didn’t they also grade a “fake” ashcan for Eniac? If so, may want to review the control mechanisms. Authentication, etc.

How do we know this isn’t a counterfeit slab and label? The CGC serial number doesn’t exist on the census. This very well could be wholly fraudulent. That, or, as was suggested above, has been removed from the census by CGC after the fact. Jus’ sayin’.

Anything is possible, there are some shady-ass sellers out there.

Am I following correctly?

Book was submitted, CGC Board shows book rejected w/Cert #, and book was accidently slabbed with Universal 9.8 in error? Do I have that correct? A coverless book was slabbed in error as a 9.8 and seller is misleading by stating it’s a legit timeline variant?

Meh… that cover not doing it for me.

Never forget that CGC, just like PSA, NGC, PCGS, Beckett, etc are ALL companies that provide a service to make money. They don’t do it for the love of the hobby. The higher the chance of getting your desired grade, the higher the chance you send more in to be graded.

Collector’s Universe is even publicly traded and beholden to share holders.
