Star Wars: The High Republic

I think Collector Universe just went private in the past couple weeks. Buy out from private equity. They have an interest to give higher grades. It’s kind of like bond rating agencies before 2008.

Maybe it’s the angle, but do they have the wrong arm there?

Well hell I don’t know. You got me really looking now

I kind of like it. Maybe it’s the red and green. Something about it

What of it was one of those poor little kids that got free copies donated by CBE not knowing the book was incomplete?

“After some collectors assisted, it appears this is actually a 9.8 reject because it’s Coverless (not a store promo or variant) that was mistakenly encapsulated by CGC in error. Thus it’s a CGC 1/1 error rather than an official variant of High Republic 1. I will welcome any bid cancellation however, I will not accept a return on this item.”

Now posted in the item description.

Oh, eBay policies tell me otherwise… Muahahahaha!!!

I find this hard to believe that he bought the actual exclusives and thought this was a legit “variant”… Sure you did buddy… Sure you did… MMMMMmmmmm… Hmmmmm…

I reported it but eBay will do nothing. The seller updating the description isn’t enough. Who’s going back and reading the description on a book you already read? CGC are useless pos and the seller is even worse.

When you see 71 new posts on a topic you know something spicy has happened :hot_pepper::hot_pepper:. Haha, wow this is 100% CGCs fault, they are supposed to be the premier grading company, now they can’t tell the difference between homeprinted fake ashcans and literally coverless comics. I don’t think the seller is at fault at all, just trying to make a quick buck due to CGCs error. They should have never sent that book back out like that.

Title is still misleading, and against eBay policies.

The right thing to do would be to cancel the listing and start over.

“After some collectors assisted”
Translation: “After I got inundated with emails calling me out knowing full well what I was doing, I’ve backtracked and been less deceitful”

That’s pretty fresh, but it is just Sskeer again. Nice colors.

We don’t know that it’s one of the coverless exclusives. Only way to tell is from the covers which are missing.

Yeah. Something isn’t adding up here.

Does CGC have a same day walk through service at the FLA facilities?

I’m not sure what the rules are with covid, but it’s Florida…likely the person walked in, requested same day service…if it was graded same day it’s possible the grading was rushed and QC missed it.

So given this guy is ok with bid retraction, who’s up for a game of “eBay chicken”…?

See how high we can drive the price…last to withdraw their bid before auction’s end wins!

I am kidding…

We all know they didn’t send out their actual “exclusives” coverless to people as reader copies…

And he was listing the actual exclusives too, that’s why I said what I said… this dude knew what he was handling or holding.

Looks like the coverless CGC 9.8 is no longer available on ebay and the posting has been removed.

Cgc probably contacted the seller about returning the book. I have seen it happen before. They will threaten him with not allowing him to get books graded again.
