So what are the most promising keys that have come out of high republic / high republic adventures and any one shots? Lots of 1st appearances scattered throughout, but are there 2 or 3 standouts that have bigger long term potential like Aphra?

A cameo is a first appearance. Marchion Ro first is SWHRA #1… most would say first full is #2.

Agreed. First Full should really read “If Marchion Ro ever becomes a highly collectible character, people will pay hundreds of dollars for #2 and not #1.”

The market works in mysterious ways… they could swing for #1:wink:

Wow this is great, thank you! Now… if you HAD to narrow this down to 2 characters you’d bet on, which would they be? Without researching too much, I would go with Darth Krall & Marchion Ro. What do you say?

Not nitpicking, just wondering your opinion of High Republic 6 as his cameo?

He’s definitely there. I took the prompt as narrowing the keys down, though. Seeing as that cameo is essentially the same as the one in #1, I’d pick #1.

Okay. What about his first full in number 6 then? He is named in that issue.

Right, I talked about it in the article above. I think you could call 6 his first full if you want. It starts to come down to the point where people are debating their own personal definition of a cameo vs. full appearance, when really it’s going to come down to market desirability between HR 6 and Edge of Balance FCBD.

High Republic 6 came out in June and is a single page and he’s in a hologram. Not much action out of him. So, I think that deducts from desirability. However, it has an awesome cover, it’s from the main comic ongoing title, and the other contender came out two months later and is technically “manga” material that comic collectors tend to discount.

Edge of Balance FCBD 2021 came out in August, but to my taste has better action from Stellan. Three pages, massive action, multiple panels and poses, named. Its a Free Comic Book Day issue so tons of copies are going to be dog-eared, stamped with a LC name and address, stickers applied, thrown into shipments without bags or boards as freebies. The supply of high grades will be lower I think.

No doubt HR6 came out first, but we’re not really debating what’s first are we? We’re debating what collectors will look at as Stellan’s issue of primary significance. The most collectible issue. No doubt most people will go for HR6. It’s just not a great appearance in my estimation, though.

My two cents.

Go for the Walmart variant. UPC moved to the back. Much better eye appeal.
