Star Wars: The High Republic

Think once people can’t find the cover B they will go for A? B was hard to find multiples of…and sold out at the distributor.

A is still out there plenty…

HRA Annual 2021 is a great comic for potential, as in addition to Porter Engle “the Blade of Bardotta”. It also has a few other 1st appearances including Bell Zettifar and his char hound Ember and Alys Ongwa (Crash) a bodyguard who was also in the recent young adult novel Midnight Horizon. Feels like just the modern type of character that Disney may like to use more. (May be loved by the kids and not loved by the older generation ?) The comic has a $7.99 cover price too, which may have deterred the casual buyer.

My favourite High Republic series so far has been Trail of Shadows, which also seems to have the 1st Proper appearance of the Great Leveller in comics in issue 5. No idea if that will mean much, but it’s a key part of the recent story and i think it’s great read if you’re into the High Republic at all.

I would think there would still be some value in cvr a. Other new characters in there.

Thanks for the input! I ordered a few last night, might go back and order a handful more for my personal spec. Bought as many cover bs as I could find but those were pretty rare.

I don’t know why the creatures/nameless are being called Great Leveler when there are more than one, according to the comics. I’m more interested in the artifact controlling them.

I was confused as well, but Trail of shadows shows one. I probably need to read the book. “The Fallen Star” as I think that may clear it up.

Paging @drunkwooky… I’ve seen a lot of talk about the Great Leveler and it’s first appearance in comics since JimComics posted his YouTube video yesterday. Can you offer any clarification on this topic? Is the first appearance Trail of Shadows #5? Jim says no :man_shrugging:t3:

Drunkwooky was excellent on youtube earlier as a guest on Comic Book Cannon.

I’m not really sure how important the first appearance is anyway. (Would be good to know, but I won’t be stockpiling.)
But the Trail of shadows series does shine a much broader light on some of the action that happens at the end of phase 1. *Including Buckets of blood stripping down to his undies to enter the fray! I would say buy to read.

Ok.

Looks pretty firstie to me. Sian Holt, the woman next to Emerick, is not Force sensitive and not affected by the Leveler. In those pages up above she is describing what we are seeing, so we know it isn’t a hallucination.

Then this panel from issue 12 of High Republic pretty much sums up what Keeve sees in issues 10, 11, and 12: hallucinations that the Leveler caused.

Thanks. That was a lot of fun.

I thought so too after reading the issue last night. But I always defer to the expert.

This is what Key Collector posted today. Is this an important character?

It’s the creature that cuts off Jedi’s connection to the Force. They were shipped to Starlight Beacon during the Fallen Star novel so that none of the Jedi could sense the Nihil attack coming.

They already appeared in Trail of Shadows 5.

High Republic 15 isn’t even out yet and there’s nothing in the preview that came out yesterday showing the Leveler.

Preview of HR15:

More hallucinations which Keeve and the other Jedi have been having since HR10.

A very important character to have around when hanging pictures.

Hey Drunkwooky, what makes you think that character will end up being the armorer? The armorer could just be a totally made up new character. I’m genuinely curious. You have so much Star Wars knowledge. I don’t know my Star Wars comics, but I have seen all the Clone Wars cartoons. When people were trying to say the armorer could be Sabine, I laughed. The YouTube pumpers don’t know anything most of the time and just throw a name out there because that is all they know. This character you have focused on, I don’t know squat about so I’m wondering…. Reveal the armorer as a brand new character or would Filoni go with someone from a comic he didn’t create? I’d love to hear your ideas.

Are you talking about rook kast? Sorry, if that’s not who DW was hypothesizing it could be. If so, I wouldn’t be surprised
